Venky's international stats are not bad. 7 innings 133 runs 162.19 strike rate. Once Pandya returned they dumped him.

wasn't bad, but he never convinced as a bowler. at that time (a while ago), pandu was the better bowler, though not as impactful as a batter

These military medium guys need to develop shoulder so that they can bowl into the pitch and generate bounce even at lower speed. Stoinis pretty much does the same. Bowls at slower speed than Shivam Dube. Marsh is also slow. But he can swing though. They should develop a fool proof stock ball.

they forgot the "proof" in "fool proof". they just bowl foolish balls instead

Reddy can be our Cameron Green lite type player...  BCCI must keep an eye on him for that Perth Test.

We need Three pacers a 4th pace bowling A/R + lone spinner as a bowling attack over there.

Can't go there with 4 seamers who can't hold bat...  Also maybe allows Kuldeep to play as well.

Cam green averages 48 in first class.  Nitish averages 20. So he has a long long way to go. I think Thakur will eb the one who will go. Thakur had a good Ranji season. Won the final for them. Averaged 20.12 with ball 31 with bat.

Thakur is washed up...  Nitish bowls around 135ish & has a heavy ball.  Consistent channel bowler.

Current Thakur won't work with both bat and ball in Australia.

Ranji stats should always be taken with a pinch of salt... Especially Bambi players.  If Deshpande can score a ton then anything can happen in Ranji.

Eye test and potential is what can win you away tests.

This is the same stupid mentality that Indian selectors have. What does his first class(longer format) average have to do with T20 cricket ? If he does well in IPL consistently, then he or others like him should be in contention for T20 side. If he does well in first class longer format, then he should be selected for tests. Why compare performance in different formats, they are entirely different ball games which requires different skill set. Its not rocket science.

That was in response to his test selection

Height is the issue.  Our guys are never 6'3" + like Australians.   Even their part timers/allrounders are huge like Cam Green.

Bounce/defensive bowling is a given when you have that release height.

Nitish Reddy is around 6.0 to 6.1 na ?

Decentish height.

Watched him closely yesterday , for the first time.  Is real livewire in the field.   Clearly passes the eye test .

His bowling will never be peak Hardik .   But then hardly any allrounder in India can reach that.

Certainly a very intriguing prospect.

I reckon he is the fastest outfielder I have seen in India (like ever)....  Runs supremely fast probably has fast twitch in his leg muscles...  Super fit & that allows him to bowl heavy balls & bat like that.

Pandu always lacked that muscle mass & natural athletic body.

Young Pandu was pretty athletic . You can't hit the way he did and bowl 145 without being an athlete.

Age and injuries have limited him.

But yeah, Nitish's fielding was a revelation.  Didn't really buy into the hype till I saw him field.

Pandu had athletic ability but had a light frame & never had sufficient muscle mass to take the load.  His back gave up on him as soon as he tried his luck in Test cricket.  Re modeled his action somewhat later in the career.
