I think selection should not involve captain at all.  There is an inevitable clique you can see with any cricket team. Once they play long enough together they form a bond so strong that they back certain players that belong to that clique as much as possible. Rohit has that power. Chahal most likely got selected because of that.

First of all, captain should not even be picked before the squad. Select the most deserving players and then select a captain out of those. Rohit clearly doesn't deserve his spot in the team. Nearly every other opener has out-performed him. It's a travesty that someone like Abhishek will sit at home and Rohit stinks up the place in WT20. Most of our selections are due to this clique. Look at Jadeja, Chahal, Siraj, Rohit, Axar, Arshdeep, and Dravid's love child Avesh. I mean any sane person wouldn't select these players based on their form or performances but yet here we are!

First strategic blunder is declaring way before that Rohit Sharma will captain Indian in T20I WC.

 

This should not have happened. Locked in and followed up with rest of the squad issues. He is literally the weak link at top of the order. provides no confidence on his wicket, no confidence that even if he gets a start he will convert. 

 

Abhishek / Parag combo would definitely make our top order look more contemporary. I do not care which keeper plays out of Simon or Pant.

 

Would have loved something like this even if we ended up losing. We are setting up for a potential future win.

 

Abhishek ( can bowl)

Jaiswal (Can bowl)

Samson (Wk) 

Parag ( Can bowl)

Dube (Can bowl)

 

Then add SKY/Rinku. One or both. Ideally both.

 

This top 5 has all multi use players and not one dimensional players who are not pulling their weight in batting itself.  This way we do not have to select all rounders for the heck of it. All of Jadeja / Pandya / Axar could be disposed. Even if one or two of them are in the squad or plays, it is not as much of an issue. 

 

Take bowlers who have things to look forward to and a career ahead of them. A$$deep was a failure even before the IPL started. Why they fixed his spot, I have no clue. Siraj was already blowing cold before IPL and just went worse. Bowling slower than Bhuvi is sad to watch. Too many options to pick from to go with Bumrah. Needed 4 fast bowlers in the squad all of whom are able to hit 140-145. Ideally they bowl yorkers and good bouncers too and don't suck in the field. 

 

That takes care of 11 players.  Add in Kuldeep as the main spinner and we get to 12 players. why the hell we need 4 spinners.  . The top 5 needs to have the backup spinners like we used to have  Viru, Sachin, Raina, Yuvraj.

 

3 more to go. Chose whoever the heck you want after. Spinner (Bishnoi/ Varun .. get creative but leave Chahal out ) or Spin all rounder (Jadeja/Axar/ New face).  Back up top order batter and WK in form of Gill/ Tilak / Pant / New face. Hell add Hardik Pandu too if you feel like it as long as he is not vice captain which makes it necessary that he plays in the 11. But Hardik looks fukkked up right now 

 

Anyways. Low expectations again.

We keep calling every player a fraud. the word is losing its meaning. Rohit is selfish to go to this tournament but not a fraud for it. 

 

If they select someone to go and pay in crores, Any player will take it. Not like players are failing on purpose. Most of the times they simply are not capable, not in form or just out of date with current game. 

 

Why do we have these damn selectors and all these structure in place if they can't do their job ? Those are the frauds for selecting for anything other than cricketing merit and form and passing it to us as the best available team.  This is the fraud where some deserving players do not get opportunity at the right time instead selections are made based on quotas, reputation, marketing, pressure or simple laziness. Those are the fraudsters not doing their job while getting paid heavy for it. 

 

Selection committee is the real fraud here.
