I think team management went for left right hand combination both in bowling and batting and left handera have been match winners in LOI.Only blip is Rinku .Siraj will hardly play.

Gaikwad was never in contention.  Jaiswal was always going to be that first choice opener (left hander etc )

 

There was maybe a case for Rutu as back up batter ahead of Gill. But BCCI threw a curveball by making Samson both back up batter and keeper  and selecting 4th spinner in Chahal.

I thought csk lobby might push for their captain gaikwad, otherwise jaiswal is better. Clearly that wasn't the case.Also jaiswal is mumbhai ,so that helps.

 

I felt Samson would be there.Chahal was facing off with likes of Mukesh and got preferred.

 

The team is on expected lines,I guess most people aren't surprised.
