Lol no. Fakhar is a far far better player. Dube sucks against pace. Guys like Dube, Tripathi, Tilak Verma, Nitish Rana etc suck against good pace bowing. They just have far too many limitations event though their intent is good. India have many players better than them.

Indian batsmen who have no apparent weakness against pace or spin:

Rohit

Kohli

Gill
KL
Samson
Riyan Parag
Abhishek Sharma
Ruturaj
Rinku

India should select their top 6 based on form from the above list. However, there should be only ONE in the XI amongst Kohli, KL and Ruturaj.

Rohit Kohli gill(current )kl ruturaj all of them don't deserve to be in any T20 xi

They are still better than limited players like Dube, Iyer etc. Based on current form and batting intent, I'd go with top 7 as below:

Jaiswal

Rohit (C)

Abhishek Sharma

Samson (wk)

Parag

Rinku

SKY

Abhishek, Parag and Jaiswal to make up the 5th bowler.

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Mayank Yadav

__________?

SkY will be playing out of place...one place is fine but he will descend from no 3 to 7.

No currently they aren't,

Iyer is bad,Rutu is worse current Kohli will definitely score 60-70 ball 80s most of the times, but would that be enough?if not they aren't"still better"

If we are going to loose anyway, why not throw these guys in the middle

With those washed up looser lotwe have seen enough what they gonna serve

To be frank in recent two innings Dube has only played pace as the opposition is not allowing spinners to bowl to him. So it will be rash to call him bad against pace as he has scored runs without having a chance to play any spin. In his last innings against MI as well he scored 66 (38) without playing any spin, so he has definitely gotten better. Also in the WC teams will be bowling spinners in the Caribbean and in the US on wickets which might not have any pace and he will be a great asset in the middle order.

I am not convinced that he can do it against international sides out of India. Happy to be proven wrong. If he continues to score runs through rest of IPL he deserves a chance as well but hopefully that is also considered from the CSK quota. Can't have Rururaj selected as well when we have so many over protective batsmen already guaranteed.

You have to give him the same license to do. That is how you get the best out of him. You cannot ask him to rebuild the innings. Some players from domestic underachieve at highest level because they change their role and play poorly. Ruturaj had the same issue. But that one innings against Australia showed he can be as damaging against top sides as he is in IPL.

In T20 there are far more competition for him to get a long run what used to be the norm earlier on. Giving Ruturaj a long run means you have to sit Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma who can be much more lethal and consistent too as well as can give you 1-2 overs. That balance is essential in a T20 playing 11 which is lacking in the national team today. I am not able to see options for Ruturaj to be significantly better than either of them at this point.

Unfortunately almost all the available batsman for opening spot are pedigree players. We don't have anyone like Salt,  Hale, Narine. A wicke tthat is alright to sacrifice. Moment you have a specialist batsman there their first instinct as an Indian would be to survive, protect their wicket at all costs.  We don't have openers with Sehwag's mindset anymore. Pant is the only one that have that live and die by sword mindset.  Jaiswal has. But he is too over-aggressive.

Man, Viru Sehwag was once in a generation batter. At least as far as India is concerned. It's not like he clicked once in a while, he performed regularly while keeping his attack mode on.

Absolute privilege to watch his entire career right from the first test match there in South Africa where he and sachin batted together. I still remember commentators saying they are unable to distinguish who played that shot. I did not know him before that match. but once I saw him, I was an instant fan. Test batting average of close to 50 at SR of 82.. Legend.

What more, he was extremely handy with the ball. Not sure why this Rohit/Rahane/Virat/Pujara gang of players did not bowl while Sachin/Sehwag/Ganguly bowled and Dravid kept wickets.
