nitinbwj Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) Lots of coverage of this event and the Indo-Pak match in the US media. GMA invited Yuvraj Singh for a brief chat. Fox and other channels have given it substantial coverage too. The Nassau County has leveled up the security that had never been seen before according to the police commissioner. Indo Pak match should be a blockbuster contrary to what others have to say. Edited June 1, 2024 by nitinbwj
nitinbwj Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Ind Ire match is also going to be rain affected going by the weather. 40% chance of rain from 8 am to 5 pm .. Local time.
tapandrun Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Double bounce wkts long and rather slow and sticky out field. Extra 10-15 runs here or there will be the deciding factor

Mariyam Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 India vs Pakistan in the USA is generally limited to contests in the hall ways of the UN. We generally school them there. We will school them on this matchbox sized ground too.
GreenLight Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 As a Pakistani and cricket fan I don't too much going Pakistan way this worldcup. There is a lot of miss management by the board and selection based on favoritism. On top of that the key players are struggling big time and partly that has to be the team and players are probably not getting along well. I would say India has to play terrible to mess this up. I am certain that Ireland will be a tough one for Pakistan and believe it or not I smell an upset by USA too. T20 has evolved and Pakistan frankly has been left behind. The sad part is there are no promising talent in the pipeline either. So usually when people complain about baber and rizwan opening or their low strike rate there is no better option. In bowling Shaheen is not disciplined and doesn't have the IQ to survive against 360 style batters. Realistically India, Australia, South Africa and England look pretty damn good this worldcup. New Zealand will somehow still make it to the semi

On these low scoring pitches, the batsmen can play in their comfort zone. Regarding better players in the pipeline that's doubly true for India where literally most of the domestic & IPL performers were not selected. Hell, we have no representation in the team from the two IPL finalists!

New Zealand will somehow still make it to the semi I saw the England-Pakistan T20 that was on the BBC last week. Pakistan didn't look good to be honest. The batting was weak and only Haris Rauf was able to take wickets. Pakistan are an 'emotions' team. If they bowl first and get early wickets they have a chance, if India get off to a good start then Pakistan often crumbles under pressure. That said India are not mentally strong either. Given how spicy the pitch is likely to be, I'd say it's a lottery and anyone's game to win.

Lemuriananda_Holmes Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Rohit and Virat will both scores ducks. they are a burden on india this wt20
tapandrun Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Outfield is too slow simple drives or edges will not fetch a boundary, sixes will be key here. Do not see boundaries (4s) being hit too often here and decent size grounds also add pressure. Considering slow and sticky outfields how do you think Pak batting fare here, Barar gets most of his runs drive shots and Rizwan is most leg side batter. Fakkar and Itifikar are two six hitters in Pak team and heard Azam Khan is capable hitter too.

At least Rohit can tonk sixes on any ground.
rollingstoned Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 We have to bat conservatively here instead of aiming for 200+ scores, every match where batsmen went for big shots most of the time they either missed big time, got hit on the body or got caught in the deep. You have to rotate strike and look to hit sixes instead of looking for 4s. Both pant and hitman got hit many times because the pitch has bounce but ball doesn't come on always which is a nightmare for shotmaking. Bouncer barrage will work well as a tactic here like it did in previous encounters and I expect Pandya to trouble them again.

bones Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Anyone who has been following Pakistan and England recently should have a rough idea of how this tournament will go. Pakistan completely lack in power in batting and they won't score enough runs for their bowlers. The Pakistani bowling attack has two guys coming back from injury so are not in optimum rhthym. They have a passenger in Azam Khan who will most likely get dropped. They have a weak, very weak spin attack although they must select Imad Wasim because he general offers more control if fewer wickets. England looked devastating and have all bases covered. England's batting might even be more lethal than it's ever been with Jordan down at 8/9. As for India from what I've seen this is not the strongest Indian team and T20 isn't traditionally where India flourish from what I recall compared to ODIs, bnut there is a huge gulf in talent between them and Pakistan and so I suspect Pakistan to fight after the humiliation of yesterday but go down in a close game. T20 allows for closer games generally.

Norman Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I friggin hate this artificial fixed fixture.. Literally nothing to win for us. Even if we win comfortably, it's just another W against this pathetic Pakistani side but if we somehow lose on that lottery NY wicket, it's going to sting big time. Gollum and cricspirit 2
