Why are Pakistani cricketers such obnoxious asses in TV shows? Something to do with their upbringing.

 

What Afridi did was a terrorist act trying to hurt an Indian minister. Disappointed with Wasim as well. Showed his true colors.

Since Pakistan did not world T20s back then i am comparing their world cup performance with India's world cup performance. India is head and shoulder above everyone except lack of silverware (just 1). Pakistan had 1 fluke silverware. India won the wC, Australia won the WC.

In 1975 WC (groups)  and 1979 WC(semis) - Pakistan lost both times to Windies.

 

In 1975 - they came closest to beating WI. Pak scored 266/7 in 60 overs.  WI were 166/8  then 203/9 and with a last wicket  stand of 64 with Deryck Murray(61) and Andy Roberts WI got to 267/9 in 59.4 overs.   Last 2 wickets scored 101 runs... what a choke!!  Sarfraz Nawaz had 4/44 in 12 overs.   Wasim Raja, 58,  with a SR of 101 always played pace bowling well. I remember listening on radio.

 

In 1979 SF - Sarfraz was clearly over the hill and WI targeted him 71 runs in 12 overs and WI scored 293/6.  There was a long 2nd wicket partnership between Majid 81(124) and Zaheer 93(122) - but they were slow. The ask had reached 110 odd runs in 110 balls when second wicket fell and with Robert/Holding/Croft/Garner it was not happening. Pak folded for 250.

 

Pak like WI benefited a lot from playing county cricket in England and Packer WSC. When county cricket rules for overseas players changed, both Pak and WI stopped being very good.
