putrevus Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) I missed women's 100m relay yesterday but Sha’Carri Richardson was just out of this world in final leg. When she got the baton USA was in fourth or fifth, her speed was mind boggling , she overtook three people and still had time to glance over her opponents. Edited August 10, 2024 by putrevus Kron 1

I dont see why we can't dominate there. Just mostly upper body. Also weight lifting. I am 100%% sure we can find Wight lifters for every weight class in India.

However, the politician asshats will ruin everything. 20 years so that we have champions across the categories. Japanese women wrestlers are favorites across all so even if there is a Sasuki like upset, they still win the others. Like Neeraj lost so we come without a gold. If you have 5-6 gold contenders you will win 2 cause other teams are also there to compete.

Yeah these are low investment sports Weightlifting, Greco-roman plus other combat sports like Judo, Taekwondo etc. Gymnastics etc too. Swimming, Rowing, Cycling still pretty expensive but we can surely invest in the cheaper sports. Kron 1

bharathh Posted August 10, 2024 Author Posted August 10, 2024 Tbh I think Nisha and of course Vinesh were unfortunate not to win medals. Nisha would have def given a better fight to the US lady than that lucky Korean lady and would have coasted to the bronze. Vinesh - no more to be said. Let's hope the CAS rules in our favour - although almost improbable. 2 (actually 3) medals from 6 events with one unfortunate accident for Nisha and heartbreaking loss for Reetika is an amazing positive. I had written off the wrestlers as medal potentials. They were the most successful. Shooters, boxers, archers and baddy players the most disappointing. Field we see the gulf in quality. Track we need more pipeline. In hockey, we need the women to step up. Asian games showed how unfit the women were compared to the Chinese and Japs. With cricket also in the next we should aim for top 30 medal finish. Anything less will be a travesty. randomGuy 1
Gollum Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 If BCCI can't guarantee 2 medals in LA 2028 including a gold, they deserve belt treatment. The pampered brats better step up. Kron 1

There were 3 times our folks messed up the last round /last few shots to lose medals. Also, the pistol shooters were good. The rifle teams and individuals were pathetic, as were the shotgun events.

Our shooters are more clutch that this. They consistenly win gold in the ISSF world championships. Bronze is poor for them. Check out our standings against the same shooters for the 3 years. I follow these tourneys. Esp our rifle teams. They usually fare better than the pistol shooters. This time they disappeared though. In fact, the rifle shooters all qualified almost immediately for the Olympics. The pistol shooters barely made it in towards the end. Yet they were the ones that did better and routinely qualified for the finals. We didn't qualify for even one final rifle event. Edited August 10, 2024 by bharathh

Even this time you could see in every event both Indian shooters were decent. India has lots of good shooters but not many great shooters. Europeans have one great shooter but others are mediocre. If there were team events we could have got gold. In the last ISSF WC, Ind made 1 gold 2 bronzes in Olympic events. Considering how high variance shooting is, not displeased with the 3 bronzes which is the same number of medals. Edited August 10, 2024 by deathmonger
