Belgium definitely has some unmatchable players like GK or the drag flicker Hendrickx.

But Aussies lost to both Germany in Semis and Netherlands for 3rd place in the wc last year.

Still not sure if we can match them now when they are at their weakest in last few decades.

Aussies so intimidating and physically imposing when they press in attack. Belgian defence calm under pressure, Indians would have wilted away under such onslaught.

Expecting 2 medals in track and field is ultra hyper optimistic. Even Neeraj won't have it easy defending his gold. He will have to fight for a medal unlike last time, when most European athletes couldn't cope with the heat and humidity of Tokyo.

 

Toor barely manages 21 m on a good day. Americans and Europeans easily clear 22 and even 23. Aldrin can realistically jump 8.2, while the gold and silver medalists are likely going to go beyond 8.5. The others you mentioned are far far behind the Olympic podium benchmark.

 

Sable and Jena have a slim outside chance that too if we're being super optimistic. One medal from Neeraj is all we are going to get realistically.

More like NZ. Steady team but don't have the ceiling to fight for gold unless big dog opponent drops a level or two.

Mentally we can't compete against Aussies but do well against Germans. Aussies struggle against Germans.

They say it is second toughest high school/college sport in US. Behind wrestling.

 

But toughest sport in the world is water polo....wrestling plus swimming. And all sorts of nonsense happens under the surface.

I don't think they are at their weakest bro. Problem with them is they have become like Indian cricket team last decade. Kings of bilateral but underperform in Olympics and WC.

But men's hockey wide wide open. Except RSA, France, Ireland, NZ, all teams have capability of finishing on podium.

We won bronze last time right - the girls. They didn’t even qualify this time? How did we f it up. I thought we were better in womens

an excpetion funny that Belgium France, netherlands and Germany are full of immigrants but none of them play hockey. Same in the UK, so many desis but teams are all whites

Girls finished 4th. Outlier result.

 

Anyway gap between teams ranked 5th to 12th in women's hockey is minimal, fine margins. Ireland made the WC final in 2018, now they are nowhere...not in Paris either.
