And ICC for cricketing purposes will always be the Imperial Cricket Council, no matter how rich BCCI gets. For instance had an Indian venue prepared an equivalent of Cape Town test pitch from earlier this year (entire test lasted 93 overs!!!!) that venue would have been blacklisted for 20 years and sepoys/coolies would still be crying about all things India. Every gora idiot was whining about India getting advantage of playing only days games and knowing where semifinal was being played in advance, it was endless whining. Gollum 1

I have only ever heard England do that. The Aussies , Saffers and Kiwis generally don't do this to such an extent.
BacktoCricaddict Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 What next? Will they ask for cloud-seeing to help their new star - Gus Cloudinson? rollingstoned 1
Ultimate_Game Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 IMO Shastri, Gavaskar and other ex-cricketers should take shots at England and raise it... and Wasim Jaffer should troll Vaughan bringing it up. Can you imagine if we had to change the ball multiple times within 60 overs! Eng dailies would've had run headlines slating BCCI, and likes of Vaughan would've had a field day on twitter. We should do the same. I refuse to believe the quality of the ball is so bad it required multiple ball changes within 60 overs. They were literally looking for the ball that would do something, and they finally got it. Umpires or match refs should've stepped in. And WI team management should've been vocal about it. I'm sure GG would go after the umpires & match ref if something like this happened with India involved. What's the point of seeing off the new ball if opponents can get different balls to get the same advantage, i.e. the ball doing something? rollingstoned and Gollum 1 1

Gollum Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 Deliberately changing shape of the ball should be punished, not rewarded like this.
Gollum Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 Where does this come under spirit of cricket? They hold annual lectures, dinners for this spirit thing.

Last Ashes, Anderson was caught on mic saying "We need to get rid of that one" when a particular ball seemed to be going dead straight. How else can they get it out of shape ? You are right . It could be much subtler. The Dukes is not a very consistent ball. Varies by batch and even individually. When they bring out new balls , it could well have a couple from an older batch. Last Ashes , they replaced a 2023 Dukes with a new one from either the 2018 or 2019 batch and they won the final Test. Stokes even tried it in India early in the series. But the SG balls are much more consistent and didn't behave too differently and they stopped doing it as the series progressed. Lone Wolf, Gollum and rollingstoned 3
rollingstoned Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Aussies tried to game extra reviews throught the test series by appealing after taking bails off before being called out on it. Smithwas using his shoe like a sandpaper acorss the pitch against us I think in 20-21. He tried to look innocent doing it. Gollum 1

This reads worse than sandpapergate. No action from refs, ICC?

I might be wrong but I don't remember the Dukes being such a problem before 2022. This seems to have happened only after Bazball. And then this Dukes is used in WI too, does it also deteriorate similarly over there?

Think they left the pitch to dry in the sun after they dismissed us cheaply at the end of the day. That series was famous for seriously doctored pitches where even 115kph Gavin Larsen and Nathan astle were unplayable. Ultimate_Game 1

The pitch was so green it was difficult to separate it from the outfield. I recall a commie joking that you could actually have cows graze on the pitch But all these things get pushed under the carpet but even a minor accidental mistake by India and all hell breaks loose! rollingstoned and Gollum 2
