The captain should be on the park,' says Agarkar

I feel for Pandya. His persona is not likeable but he's a bonafide winner in white-ball cricket. Indian selectors should make sure he's available till 2027 WC as he provides crazy amount of balance to the side, and it's his absence which was the main reason for us losing 2023 WC final.

Hope selectors and team management talk to Pandya and Bumrah and convey the message that they're the most important players in the team and the selectors don't want to risk them in useless bi-laterals and other series. And that's why they won't be captains but will be first names on the team sheet. We can't risk losing either Bumrah or Pandya to poor management.

Is that why we had a merry go round of captains after 2019 wc? Bumrah, Hardhik, rahane, Pant, KL, SKY...

its fine if the policy changed, but they should address that, rather than just blaming a player.

It’s also might be the divorce for pandya. His mental state might not be good for leading a team right now.

HP was a key contributor to the T20 WC 2024 win. I don't know about ODIs, but in T20Is, he is a must. They must manage him well.

Huh? After 2019 WC niether Agarkar nor Gambhir were there.

Has there ever been a divorced captain for India? I know azharuddin was divorced but I guess he immediately married second time. Did we ever have a captain who was divorced and unmarried?

I would say even for ODIs he's a pretty decent player. You don't need to go with 3 pacers if he's around. Instead of Siraj as the 3rd pacer, you can go with Pandya. Huge plus in adding batting depth and fielding. And in T20Is he's the 2nd most important player after Bumrah. Needs to be managed well.

And I would say if we play another WTC final, he can make a one-off appearance. If we had someone like Pandya in that rainy, gloomy, seaming WTC final against NZ, things would've been different.
