And these players get paid the same as men? Like I said, if I wanted to tune into watching cricket in slow motion, I'd rather watch highlights of men's games at 0.5x speed on YouTube

It takes time for standards to go up. It took our men's team ages to get to a standard where they can beat every opponent. And still they struggle to win tourneys.

 

I blame media for all the hype around women's team. Problem is not equal salary, problem is all that media hype and unrealistic expectations. For a layman to listen to media, one would assume India and Australia are the top two teams and it's a throw up between the two for the trophy. Truth is that India has yet to win any global tourney and will struggle to beat any top team.

 

I'm more disappointed with the women's team with their Asia cup performances. They lost to the lkes of B'desh a couple of years ago and lost to SL Women a couple of months ago. There should not be any reason for Indian women team to lose to B'desh, SL, Pak or any other non SENAW team. Still they've lost 2 out of last 3 Asia Cups to such poor teams. That deserves a lot of criticism and needs to be called out much more than losing to Aus. Losing to NZ in the fashion they did - allowing them to get to 160 on these pitches was an extremely pathetic performance too.

I'm talking about women's games in general: why does Oz get the same prize money as the Indian team when we probably bring 50-100x more income from the sponsors?

Ah ok. That's up to Indian administrators to figure out and ensure we get the biggest part of the pie. But not sure whether we bring in the most revenue for women's cricket as well. For men's cricket we generate 80% or more of the global cricketing revenue but not sure about the %ge for women's cricket.

As long as Kaur is captain, this team will never be united and play as one. It's like if India had made harbhajan singh the captian instead of dhoni.

 

P.S. they are same stage as Indian team in the 90s, they haven't been there as long as the male team.

Mandhana is useless in pressure matches.

 

Kaur has been lone warrior for this team .
