England after beating Pakistan thought they could wallop India also with Bazball .But Jaiswal bossed them.

Despite Jaiswal's cameo, we would hv lost one or two more tests to Eng if Dhruv Jurel had not stepped up.

We would have lost a test if Gill did not anchor the last innings chase in one test also.Jurel played well but ultimate story of that series is Jaiswal.

Point is England is not that great as Pakistan is making it .SL of all teams beat them at home.

Bashir has got to be the worst spinner to have played for England in A LONG while. Idk why he gets a long rope. I wouldn't pick him in a local league match.

some BS about how many 'revs' he puts on the ball, coupled with his youth, and some perceived notion of him having great temperament/"character".

ENG are all in on picking 'characters' instead of selecting based purely on metrics and performance.

I mean, they were able to resurrect Crawley's career and Duckett's.  Maybe the theory is that all their spinners are mediocre anyway, let the one with the highest 'potential ceiling' learn on the job.

Well Harry 'the don' Brook didn't come to India.

Hr averages a mere 111 away from home

Hold you horse for the time being. He has played just 6 away tests till now, 4 of them in Pak where he averages 130+. At home he averages 38 in 13 tests.

ENG play a high risk test game.  Weak teams can crumble under the onslaught, decent teams can hang in there and throw a few punches back.

They did not play any high risk game in this test at all. They did not have to take any risk to score runs  other than last few overs.

Pakistani bowlers were gifting them runs with utmost ease.It was atrocius bowling and captaincy from ball one having scored 550 runs.

I don't think they are scoring that many runs against any bowling attack with such ease.

Not talking about this game specifically, their general approach over last 10-20 tests.

mostly due to playing in pak.

he is a good batsman but would have struggled in india.

I don't think they will play high risk game if bowling is bad. They take high risk approach against good bowling sides as they don't get easy runs and they don't trust their defense against those sides.

England will continue to hammer weak bowling attacks but will have problem if bowling is good.Their bowling is not that great either.

I think the whole Bazball renaissance for England is over.  It was a strategy to counteract their batsmans' lack of technical proficiency.  It has come a cropper in India and it only works against dreadful teams like WI and Pakistan or absolutely dead tracks.  Let's not forget Sri Lanka beat them in their own country only a few weeks ago.

He is far better batsman than Zak Crawley.Crawley did well in India. Brook would have done well too , he sure would have done better than walking wicket of Johnny Bairstow.

Brook has decent technique but he will have growing pains like any young guy.

Exactly, they were sweeping from ball one in India.Ashwin and Jadeja don't give out freebies plus they are not good enough like Root to hang in there for bad ball.

Root is still the glue that holds their batting, if he has a bad patch they will be in trouble. But Root is going on and on for three years.

Australia, India and South Africa have been comfortably the best bowling sides in this era. Root scored just 4 centuries in these countries. 3 in India, 1 in SA and 0 in Australia.

For comparison Sachin has 11 centuries in Australia and South Africa which were the most dominant sides in his time.

Likewise Kohli has 10 centuries against AUS, SA and England in their respective home grounds. 6 in Australia, 2 in SA, 2 in England.

You need to do well against the dominant bowling sides of your time to find a place in the Top 10. So where is this talk of Root being the best test player ever is coming from.

crawley is opener though.

new ball is easiest time to play in india.

once ball starts reversing and turning then its an issue.

england would start out well and then bumrah, ashwin, jaddu, kuldeep would break through.

Yes.  Root was in a 'Sachin in the 90s' position before Bazball carrying the batting.  There was a brief respite for him when Bazball was effective but that's over and he's back to Sachin mode (in more ways than one).  He's a superb cricketer and deserves the praise he gets.

0 centuries is a bit misleading for Root, he's gotten starts and put up a few good innings. So not like its a total failure.

Still an Average of 35 in Australia is nothing to rave about when you are compared to the best in the business. The amount of holes people used to try to find in his record is nothing compared to Indian players.
