Looking Forward: team rebuilding

After the loss against New Zealand, the most the most neglected part ,ie perfomance of seniors Rohit,Virat,Ashwin,Jadeja , have came into limelight. 

 

Then there is the problem of succession to our fast bowlers ie Bumrah and Shami.

 

The players who were to be the bridge between Youngsters and seniors ie Rahul,Siraj,Kuldeep, Axar have not been able to take responsibility and perform consistently and are currently out of the team. 

 

As usual our board has given preference to PR,ad revenue, image and select the same players again for Australia.

Now time has come to rebuild the team from scratch.

 

There is a core of a team around which the new team can be formed.

 

Pant

Jaiswal 

Gill

Bumrah. 

 

We can add

 

Sarfaraz

Jurel

Axar

Kuldeep

Akashdeep 

 

to the team.

 

We should select players who have good experience of playing in domestic.

Why can't he played as a pure batter,he's good enough to do that

And being a keeper himself,he will surely not disappoint in fielding,you can place him in slips as well where shuppastaa senior egglayinh Rohit dropped catches which proved costly

Pant is part of the clique now or so it seems.
Outsiders like Jurel or Kishen get overlooked quite a bit.

They have made it clear that certain talented players are overlooked .

Sarfaraj, Jurel ,Akashdeep are now in unwanted list.The team management kept playing Bharat,Patidar ,Mukesh inspite of failure and tried to keep this players out as long as possible. 

 

Sarfaraj had a great domestic for 3, 4 years but he was kept out of the squad.Everyone from Iyer,Surya,Patidar were tried to keep him out of the squad. 

 

Any one can predict between Mukesh and Akashdeep, who is a good bowler by they always treated him as unwanted.

The team management is now backing Mayank who has only 1  Ranji match amd who has huge concern regarding his fitness. He has got injured bowling three times while bowling hardly 20 overs.

 

Harshit has hardly played Ranji match and he is being selected for Australia tour .Inspite of being with the squad, the same team management didn't trust him for one T20 match.

The seniors should be dropped, with that out of the way I still am not too sold on the youngsters who have played for us in near future.

 

1. Gill has been mediocre in tests

2.Sarfaraz’s technique casts many doubts on his ability to score away from home, we will get a definitive answer in Australia.

3. If Ruturaj Gaekwad becomes a good test batsman I will leave watching cricket. He is that bad.

4. Jaiswal is amazing but still failed away in SA, so a lot to be seen yet
 

As of now Pant, Jaiswal and Sundar have given us some hopes. Hopefully Jaiswal scores runs in Australia.

 

Fast bowling is down the drain too.

Musheer will have to start from scratch as he may not able to play this year Ranji matches.

 

There are many top order batsman ,but who are the middle order batsman in the Ranji Trophy who can have a very good career in test cricket.

Ideally the player should have experience of playing Ranji matches and should have 50 + average. 

 

Rinku Singh ,Priyam Garg,Baba Indrajit are some of the players ,but don't think the team management will back them.

 

We should be searching for a very good no 4 batsman as a replacement for Virat kohli. 

 

We also need a very good middle order batsman who can easily replace Rahul.

FC average of 36. Only suited for white ball cricketer.

 

We cant make same mistake we did with SKY.

Riyan is good maybe we can keep him in mix in red ball too

Riyan can certainly be someone like Phillips coming late and can roll his arms too,but I would certainly want someone like Jurel be part of our xi

Agree. He should play LOIs.

 

For him to play tests, he has to play some long knocks in red ball cricket and up his FC average.

He has played 32 Ranji matches and have 36 average. We have to consider that as Assam is a weak team,most of the time he is stranded for lack of quality batsman.in his team. 

Most of his runs  he scored would be like our team scores against New Zealand 40/5,70/6.

Watched him bat in Duleep Ttophy and he was throwing away his wicket repeatedly after spectacular 30 odd runs. 

 

Needs to rectify this tendency.

I get why people want fighters and pressure player but believe me these are all monikers that help you only if you are actually very talented.

 

First and foremost criteria should be talent, yes there are people who can fight but don’t have that much talent, those kind of cricketers might help you in a pressure situation once or twice but to get consistent results we need players with a lot of talent.

 

As of now Pant, Jaiswal fit the criteria, Gill was touted as the next Kohli but I don’t see a ground breaking talent in him.

Rinku should be a all format player. Talented + mentally tough, I don't know why we haven't atleast started grooming him in tests. He doesn't even seem to be on selectors radar.
