Won't make a difference if our batting keeps on getting bowled out for 150 or 180 in less than 50 overs on Day 1. Bumrah made a difference last time but with passengers like Kohli and Rohit, it's beyond bowlers.

Yeah we are trying to rotate players who can win games . The bowlers and all rounders.

The culprits or repeated batting disasters are assured places in playing 11. Let everything work around them to make up.

WTC is out of equation.

You can't roll over Australia with such a weak batting lineup. A team like NZ thrashed us at home.

Bowling can't save you always.

They don't deserve to play the final. They are not currently one of the best 2 test sides.

I now think @Ultimate_Game was right when he asked for four pacers, there is no need of Ashwin here. Our lower order batting will get worse but atleast Bumrah will get some proper support.

The issue that needs fixing is the top order batting. The other chopping and changing of the bowlers is largely cosmetic and irrelevant. They could have Holding and Marshall supporting Bumrah but when the batsmen cannot cross 200 in 3 of the 4 innings in the series so far, no bowling attack int he world is going to help you beat Australia in their backyard.

We don’t have enough batsman in our squad to replace the top order.

From what I saw, Rahul, Jaiswal and Gill still looked okay, problem is with Kohli and Rohit.

I don’t think replacing them with Devdutt and Khan will make any difference.

Hopefully we churn them out after this series.

Jadeja or Sundar should come in for Ashwin.

get Jurel in as a keeper bat and get Devdutt/Sarfaraz in. Can't be any worse than what we have already.

or get Jadeja in at 6 and play 4 pacers plus Reddy

Jurel was in the team in the first test and failed in both innings barely getting into double figures in the first innings collapse. Just not being in the team suddenly seems to have made him into the next Tendulkar.

Was unlucky in second dig when others cashed in.

He deserves a run

Yes but realistically he should replace Rohit or Kohli but that's not going to happen. He can't replace Reddy. Of course you could sack Pant and bring in Jurel as the keeper/bat which would be a bold though surreal move which would leave the main problem in the side unaddressed

Pant has to improve his keeping by some notches.   Those costly drops are series defining & his 20-30 runs won't matter in the grander scheme of things.

I get he is not the problem with Rohit and Kohli the biggest culprits dragging the team down with them include finished Ashwin with them.

We are playing with 8 players vs 11 atm.

His keeping has to improve but the losses in the last 5 games are not due to his keeping plus his runs have kept the team afloat on many occasions. He can consistently produce a 20 run knock even on difficult low scoring wickets which is what you take from a keeper-bat. It's the failing top order that has placed inflated expectations on him as the man to carry the batting each time. I think he found keeping against the pink ball tough and he has never played in these conditions before and even Carey was struggling to gather cleanly. England are playing with Ollie Pope as the keeper as a comparison !

He did well in Eng series and in practice game scored 90. Its you who are judging him on one game.

Plus Pant is dropping a lot now. Jurel is better WK surely

Jurel looks the better keeper visually but the sample size is small and doesn't exist outside India. If wicket keeping was the main issue in the side I could understand but I don't think that's close to the key issue here. Re batting Jurel did well Vs England but Pant is also chipping in virtually every innings and almost won the Mumbai test single handedly just 2 tests ago. I'd still take Pant as a proven batter in all conditions

It is an issue. Pant is dropping too much.

I'm not asking for Pant to be dropped but to play as a batsman alone.

Fair enough but the main changes that are needed are Rohit/Kohli etc. Sadly it's part of Indian cricket culture that changes are much more readily made to younger players who are quickly cast aside while the so called seniors keep the sarkari job. I can remember Pant struggling with 2 catches wide of him which he couldn't reach but they were hard chances and not match turning incidents in the match

Even the bowling is a one man show.

It was always going to be a one man show, coz we never developed other bowlers to cover for injury of our A tier bowlers.

We have been milking Bumrah for ages as Shami is injured long time. For his replacement we brought in Avesh, Mukesh, Unadkut in main team. Akashdeep was choosen ultimately but for some reason Rohit kept underbowling him in India..and now Harshit is thrown in directly against a team like Australia in an unfamiliar conditions.
