Does Thakraj have braced leg, seems like he bends the knees, wont be able to increase and sustain the pace for longer.

Kamboj  does not seem to be anything special, same run of the mill sub 140 kmph bowler who are decently accurate which Ind cricketing system likes.

They are selling him as allrounder, he bats at no.8 for domestic team and he is allrounder, Sandhu needs to work on his power game else there is no point in current day and time #5/6/7 should be able to hit 4/6 with ease against both pace and spin on leg and off side

Kamboj in the long run will end up like Shardul Thakur, he has a heavy frame and a weird follow through. Won't be able to sustain pace for long.

Thakral don't have braced leg, he seems another Akashdeep type pacer, not much effort in action but runs fast and hence transfers the momentum followed by a good follow through. Good basics & enough pace for domestic batters.

Not necessary, Akhtar too didn't have braced leg and we know about his pace

Akhtar had kind of a javelin thrower kind of action, many other thing were going for him.

Big run-up and huge momentum, giving it all at the end kind of action.

Tait had v.strong give it all at the end kind of action.

But if the bowler is sub 135 kmph and does not have fundmentals right they wont be able to increase the pace and sustain it for a period of time.

It would be like they work on pace for couple for season and then get injured and then go back to same old pace and the work done is all in ruins, this is one of the reason other than longevity that Ind fast bowlers after initial intnl season and getting injured losses the pace.

Akhtar had a very long and fast runup, plus he was also helped by hyperextension of joints. Above all, Akhtar had that "madness" of bowling fast.

Many few pacers have that madness, Thomson was one, Tait, Lee & Wood are others.

Thakral doesn't have that, he can be a 135-140kph type pacer if he put hard, but not beyond that. Though he is quick enough for domestic batters.

Umran & Tyagi has that zeal to up their pace. Mayank is talented but I don't think he is that crazy about bowling fast (his recent statements about line & length over pace hints that way).

Sen too gives lot of effort in order to bowl quicker and hence his pace hasnt reduced, while Harshit seems fine to be in 138-145 range instead of 142-149 range.

Umran's best format looked like ODis where he is not under pressure every ball, plus he needs to bowl 145+ regularly and add some kind of skill may be inswing outswing something. Can not run and just bowl fast in strt lines.

Have posted about tyagi and mayank multiple times on the other thread.

Had hopes with sen he was tall use to ball close to wkt v.efficient action(other with more knowledge can explain/suggest further on his action).

Always thought rana is red-ball bowler with his natural inswing need to work on fitness and concentrate on red-ball he has ingredients. He added t20 skills set to his bowling plus a ball that goes away from rt. hander will take time to get back to those 145 kmph balls on regular basis.

Was impressed with Akash deep too he showed he can bowl long spells without losing much pace in 1st tst he played bowling 137-144 kmph in test with the kind of zip he was getting was v.impressive, but they didnt give him next game and v.small sample size, was it the only match ,did he find some help from wkt or was it natural to him we know nothing and now he is bowling sub 140 kmph.

The prominent problem with new Ind pacers they donot know optimal pace they should operate at to be effective. Like Pradish need to bowl more balls in 145 kmph bracket,

Umran needs to bowl 145+kmph else he is just some not so tall skidish kind of bowler who does not have sideways moment or bounce to trouble the batter.

rana needs to be 140+kmph. These things are v.simple to be noticed any1 can tell what needs to be done.

If Sindhu cant develop power game..then atleast he should work on these ramps, reverse, paddle type shots to get something going for him..

I am fine with Harshit bowling 138-145 range..as he has got height..

as long as he can remain fit..and hit the deck and be accurate with that reduced pace..

Many tall SENA bowlers operate at that pace and are successful..

yes either power game or those modern shots. young ind players lacks power game,

gill, sai etc all lack power game which is kind of needed in today's time

Sindhu's power game is still developing, though he scored 100 (48) vs Arunachal and 57(36) vs Jharkhand. He is yet to build that.
Still he is more of a strike rotator with few boundaries. More suited for ODI and Tests instead of T20.

I said,braced leg isn't necessary

It is part of your perfect action ,it is equally responsible just like runup ,jump, non bowling arm, follow through etc

Not be all or end all

Only CUmmins and Bumrah have front braced leg. Others don't.

It isn't that mandatory thing to bowl quick

Indeed, it isn't everything.

But as you said, it helps though in optimizing the efforts.

Pace is much more than just having braced leg

Gill is neither suited fr test v.lose technique nor for white-ball lacks power game fr it.

Cricket has moved on v.fast , batter like dunket, marsh, brook etc are new prototype even jaiswal who can score quick runs and can hit boundaries with ease.

T20 is next level now we are seeing 200 being scored too often and it would not look like safe target.

These rotator/accumulator with no power game are not the thing now specially at 5/6/7 and down need power game, with 320 becoming  everyday total and teams now look as they can chase it down.

The prime examples of rotating strike  few hits here and there are Imam and Babar we saw thy would not even go for chases when it was 310+, the match they won was against SL and against NZ it was DLS system+ fakkar's batting if it was full game NZ would have picked Fakkar and pak would have haulted the case then and there.

They were confused when setting-up the target as they donot know how to keep the tempo and increase with the passage of time.

yes braced leg is not the only and essential thing, pace comes from imparting/transferring momentum to the ball at the point of release.

But when nothing is going for a bowler like fast arm-speed, fast run-up, give it all at release point kind of approach, long arms, then the best bet becomes the technique to attain pace and sustain it for a longer period of time.

Do not think Thukral has many thing going for him naturally/by-default
