Austin 3:!6 Posted March 19, 2025 Posted March 19, 2025 Two Nasa astronauts who were stuck in space for the last nine months have finally returned home. Sunita “Suni” Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore left Earth in June 2024 on a test flight that was intended to last roughly nine days. Their stay on the International Space Station was extended following issues with their Boeing Strainer spacecraft that raised concerns. Williams and Wilmore returned in a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft alongside Crew-9 mission members Nick Hague and Russian Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov. Footage shows the craft splashing down in the Gulf of Mexico as crews raced to greet them. All four smiled and waved as they were pulled from the capsule and taken away for medical examinations. News | The Independent | Today's headlines and latest breaking news This is how reporting will be- because this is ultimately not just SpaceX but RosCosmos win. See, this is capsule with air-bags and parachutes crash-landing in ocean to be fished out by boat model of re-entry. That is ze USSR soviet commie way. Its cheap, it safe and it works because the pacific is a pretty goddamn big piece of ocean to aim for for crash landing and miss any land you can have ur ships nearby to fish them out in 24 hrs worst case scenario. Ze great 'muh yankee' model is the spaceship plane to space....which E-lund tried a few weeks ago and it went kaboom and showed light-show insetad of space launch and re-entry. Even for e-lund this is a bow-down to ze commie Rooskies coz this is the way Roskies determied is the safest, cheapest and easiest way to send peopleand fetch them back from space. Space-plane in far more expensive, stupid and likely to break in 1 million more ways than capsule with heat-resistant padding and airbags+parachute deployment aiming to go sploosh in ocean.
