Mhatre has been very disappointing in International cricket

I don't rate this guy.  There is some issues with his technique.  Too much of a front foot plonker.

Raghuvanshi technically more gifted.

Suryavanshi more flamboyant (although too leg sidish) but he is a kid with lots of power in his shots.

Mhatre scored two 100s in England u19 tests

U19 tours are not a lone metric.  Just a general observation.  Even when he was scoring some flashy cameos for CSK I didn't found his batting convincing.

Just a hunch but I feel he is going to be another Priyam Garg type player.

I think in the first match  he was a tad unlucky though. He got a good piece of it.  Batsmen will go through up and down in this phase before discovering themselves. Being inconsistent at young age allow them to improve better.  Yes he has a bit of an issue when he plays on the up. He is not strong like 16 year old Sachin who used to play same shot with vertical bat. This guy lacks that power behind it. He has a decent backfoot game which will always help in the long run.

Priyam Garg is not a bad player by any means, has solid technique, better FC record than Sudarshan and padikkal. Should have played ahead of them. Not your quintessential T20 bat. While Mhatre is more like Rohit Sharma with his technique.

Mhatre is high skilled guy,I don't think he has not got power game, his cut pulls are top notch

He's not a finished product as u19s aren't,but I will surely watch out for him,he didn't only play cameos,he infact scored good number of runs in his debut season for CSK

i regarded priyam as promising at u19 ...but dint follow him since then.

they hv to understand they need to hv a bumper ranji season in the first 2 years...it is the difference between rishabh n sarfaraz, iyer n samson.coming back from that deficit is really hard as sarfaraz n samson are finding out.

I also though Priyam Garg is good..may be IPL pressure weighed much on him..

Talent is there..could be some mental strength or focus issue..as I saw UPt20 highlights..whenever he played..he looked good..just couldnt play very long innings..

He was the captain of 2020 U19 world cup. He was really poor. Guys like Tilak varma, Jurel, Jaiswal all have come a long way since.

Garg and his entire team was caught up when bcci changed the way they treat U19 player. before if some1 performed good in u19 level(wc) they would be given a chance in Ind side after 1-2 good domestic seasons.

So to decrease age frauds and to make it less lucrative, bcci has move on from that policy. Now the gateway is IPL and domestic. Grag never took his game to next level.

Jaiswal alost missed the train unless there was an urgent need for test opener and every1 they tried failed, plus he had a v.good IPL season not only interms of runs but sr too.
