Scoreboard pressure existed because only Umesh and Mohit took 6 wickets in that match. Ashwin got 1 and Shami and Jadeja nil. A few more wickets from Ashwin/Shami/Jadeja and the score might have been less that 300.

 

For example Warner was a monster in that WC - he scored 12 off of 7 balls with a six and four in first Umesh over but fell on first ball of second over. Had that wicket not happened, the score might have been 378 instead of 328.

True. Other bowlers were upping their level in his absence, which they can do for a game or two, but not forever.

That remains to be seen .... but yes for some reason they under perform when playing along sides Bumrah. Very strange.

It wasn't the case when we had Ishant and Shami bowled with Bumrah. Infact their stats look better with Bumrah.

Maybe Ishant and Shami are treated differently when bowling with Bumrah vs say a Siraj. Even in the Kolkata match Bumrah opened the  bowling but Siraj came on after over 51 in the second innings. That when Bumrah and spinners were having trouble with the last 2 wickets. 

 

Even in the fifth test we lost to England after suspending the tour at 4 matches couple of seasons back - Just check where Siraj and Thakur got to bowl as Bumrah and Shami hogged the ball. BTW we lost that test.

He was one of the most important bowler in 2023 wc, he has an injury & gets unceremoniously dumped but Sadesa who hasn’t done anything in LOI since eternity gets a place.

the favouritism is appalling.

Mo Shami  He is going to be the biggest loss in ODIs.  There is no one remotely in the vicinity of his class.  Akash deep is okayish in tests in similar mould. In ODI not even close.
