vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 Shami is going to be an irreplaceable commodity. Facts and figures show that clearly. Let us look at bowling stats of each country in the last 3 ODI world cups Bowling Averages of Each team in last 3 world cups Bowling Averages of Pace bowling unit for each team in the last 3 world cups Bowling averages of spin bowling of each team in the last 3 world cups. India is the second best after SA Wicket tally in the last 3 world cups. SHami played 10 matches less than starc took only 10 less than him. On an average he takes 3 wickets plus per match. That is mind bogglig number. To quantify the staggering achievement of Shami we have to look workload/output ratio. India bowled 1241 overs and took 245 wickets including run outs in the last 3 world cups Shami bowled 145 overs and took 55 wickets Shami bowled 11% of the overs and took 22% of the wickets. Almost 1/4th of the wickets. As a comparison to the next best Bumrah bowled 14% of the overs and took 15% of the wickets Bigg Brother, BacktoCricaddict, Suhaan and 3 others 4 2

Lord Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 Missing him now is different thing, but we didn;t use him well at his peak too. Bhuvi replaced an inform Shami in WC 19 semi. Didn't play CT 17. bouncers, Stan AF, Manucrick and 7 others 1 4 5

nevada Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Shami is badly missed in ODIs as well as tests. He could make something happen even with the old ball. Bumrah is the only world class bowler we have now and he is always one injury away from getting sidelined. If we lose him, our bowling drops to minnow level! Instead of identifying and backing new talents in bowling, we are fixated with having a team full of "all-rounders". You keep doing mediocre things, your results will remain mediocre or even worse as is happening right now. express bowling, BacktoCricaddict, Suhaan and 1 other 1 3

Even in the final, he was suddenly made to bowl with the new ball when he was bowling as first change through the tournament, and he barely had any control with the new ball. So many brain dead decisions. Edited December 1, 2025 by bowl_out Lord 1

Interestingly both tests won in England were with Bumrah not playing and the minnow level bowlers bowling......

vvvslaxman Posted December 1, 2025 Author Posted December 1, 2025 Seam movement >> Swing or pace. Because you have very very little time to react once the ball moves off the seam. You don't see that coming. When you see it it is already late. That is where Shami is deadly dangerous. He lands it on a length with accuracy. That element of threat is missing. Akash lacks the speed that Shami had. Currently we don't have banana swing bowlers or seam bowlers. Mostly hit the deck bowlers, scrambled seam bowler, floaters.

Even Mohit Sharma contributed a couple of wickets.

Yea.. but we succumbed to scoreboard pressure more than anything else. We just choked. SCG is typically a friendly wicket for subcontinent teams. We started well and superstars went missing.
