It happens in all sports - not just cricket. It is even more advantageous in physical contact sports where a physical 17 year old can dominate a talented but smaller 14 year old.

some do the reverse. Unable to tolerate a mischeivous boy they send him to school at a early age saying he is older

What Prince yadav did was the bad one. He was off by 5 years and duly punished for it. But with vaibhav's case i say 1 year may be tops. Still well within under-19.  Once you cross the age group and become senior batsmen don't care about age.  But fast bowlers get exposed if they cheat their age. Manojt Kalra was 2 months older. Got penalized badly.

 

BCCI has a process in place to test them. They have passed. I am fine with that. We can't do private investigator job of he said this on that date so he must be 25 year old. Frankly don't care. The consequence is serious if you get found out. Especially those who come from big cities cannot cheat easily given that they do schooling, they get birth certificate

Prince Yadav is still 24 on cricinfo.  I wasn't even aware of his fudging, lol

Yeah but fudging by 5 and a half years.  And here we thought we were better than the PAKs.  Clearly not.

Yeah many kids say by mistake..he didnt get any advantage..he was playing club cricket with people who are already having their own  kids..he looks very young..if we dont have that video..we cant tell just by looking him..whereas others age fudding is quite noticeable..

couple of my friends in 9th/10th grade competed  in under 12 athletics in hyd n won medals.. our PT sir ensured that they competed in lower age category

It is rampant in soccer. BTW a person who fails a year basically does not age a year. So if you have failed 4 times and are in 8th std/grade..... you are still 13 years old.
