Also Norman Borlaug who created drought resistant crops through his expirements which lead to the green revolution. Real heroes!! From the Indian context, MSS and other ag visionaries pushing for the adoption of these technologies and genetic varieties was a game changer! Just to nitpick though, Borlaug's main contribution was not drought resistance but high-yield dwarf varieties of wheat. The same genetic technologies can and have been used to develop other traits such as drought resistance - by Borlaug himself and others who followed him. As for Haber and Bosch: https://sites.bsu.edu/enact/the-haber-process-how-the-need-for-bombs-100-years-ago-has-saved-your-life/ Like GPS, Internet, Jet airplanes, Nuclear energy ... all examples of the paradox of war-technologies becoming beneficial technologies. Lone Wolf Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Very interesting thread @singhvivek141... Seems like the era of huge @ss Aircraft carriers is over. Just way too expensive and vulnerable. In the era of Underwater strike drones it's just a massive target practice for enemy. India needs to invest heavily on Submarine front, more Anti Sub ships etc,

India needs to invest heavily on Submarine front, more Anti Sub ships etc, Nothing goes out of scope bro. Aircraft carriers are like floating bases on which Airforce and Navy operate through. To defend your any base, you need to have the capabilities around it. Be it interceptor missiles, stealth jets/drones. US miscalculated massively, their Air defence despite being top of the tech was extremely expensive for the cheap shahed drones. They didn't had 76, 90, 105 or 155 mm guns which can take care of aerial threat. Their bases were poorly defended. But yeah, I agree that India need to focus first on concept of distributed lethality. Swarm off unmanned missiles boats and Submarines who can wipe out the enemy defence. Then an Aircraft Carrier can come in and just wipe out the entire battle field courtesy of its combat capability. Lone Wolf 1
kepler37b Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 Just asked chatGPT why some in Indian RW simps for mullah regime. It has given some good points to ponder over. Mullah regime is evil and is taking up lot of economic and natural resources of Iran to maintain itself. In essence, it is sucking the country dry. Claim: The Iranian regime is praised for resisting American influence, sanctions, or “Western imperialism.” Why misleading: This ignores the fact that ordinary Iranians bear the cost of these policies: inflation, currency collapse, shortages, unemployment. Admiring Iran’s external defiance does not mean the regime protects its own citizens — the military/security budget is huge, while social services lag. It’s a selective framing, highlighting foreign posture but hiding internal repression. Claim: Admiration for IRGC or Basij strength and organizational discipline. Why misleading: The IRGC is strong internally and regionally, but this strength is paid for by ordinary citizens through economic hardship. Much of the IRGC’s power comes from state-controlled businesses and off-budget resources, not economic efficiency benefiting the population. Military strength does not translate to freedom, prosperity, or innovation for citizens.

I am already seeing Admirals now advocating for more surface and underground warfare as our supply energy lines are getting stretched and u don't hav enough surface/ subsurface fleet to safeguard it. The lower VLS count of our vessels has always bothered folks. Brahmos Naval variant nearly 2X than a standard Subsonic cell. Chinos have started mass inducting Smaller Missile boats with a 100+ VLS count and CIWS and anti drone weaponry. No wonder their single year (2025) new inductions surpassed Indian Navy's existing vessels entire VLS count. With a constraining budget of IN they need to improvise a lot too I think. Next Aircraft carrier should be lower in priority than NGD, and especially SSKs. I get the Blue water Navy flex that comes with carriers but we gotta go assymetric as well in our neighborhood Edited March 16 by Lone Wolf

bsriharsha Posted March 17 Posted March 17 IGRC makes ISI look tame in comparision. I don't agree with Israel/US and their unilateral actions against Iran. I hope Iranians rise up and maybe elements in the Iranian Army step up to deal with the IGRC. kepler37b 1
