WI tend to lift their game against Pooks. At least in recent past. Even drew the series on rank turners of Pak last year.

We can bat well on 4th and 5th day pitches, just as long as it isn't 4th innings, that is a mental block for us. We play like GOATs in first 3 innings and then lose the plot in 4th innings, be it with bat or ball. 

 

Lord's pitch last year was also easing out. Jaddu, Bumrah, Siraj together occupied the crease for almost 2 sessions, never looked like getting out. Even proper number elevens like Bumrah and Siraj were middling everything, Bumrah lost his wicket to a pull shot that was never on, Siraj's dismissal was one where he middled the ball with textbook defence. All our top order had to do was negotiate the first 20 overs and we were set, woh bhi nahi hua, faltu ka panic, Jaiswal's hoick against Archer in 1st over (ego battle), Nair leaving a straight delivery. Next day also, Nitish, Washi got out to nothing deliveries....Reddy was in fact well set and could easily have taken us home. Hamare jagah RSA hota toh us pitch mein even 300 would have been chased easily. 

 

Have seen enough of our team for last 15 years (especially post Laxman retirement), anything over 150 and we need divine intervention. BGT mein we had back-to-back great performances in 4th innings, that is why it will always be our greatest achievement. 

 

Our 2015-22 team was so great that they used to seal the deal in 1st 3 innings itself, Ashwin-Jadeja had a big role in that, they hid our frailties so well. Us mein bhi we got bundled out in 2015 Galle, missed a couple of easy chases in SENA. If we were even half decent in 4th innings, that team would have been in conversation with GOAT WI, Aus.

Pakistan has had some solid 4th inns resistance even in last decade.  Masood's debut ton I guess came in a record 4th inns chase in Galle.

 

They did it again with Abdullah Shafique in 2023 I think.

Especially when you look at the ability of players in question. Our Fab 4 team was also bad in 4th innings until VVS restored some respect. Nahi toh Zim mein 240 chase karna bhi unke liye bahut tha. We also couldn't play out draws in final innings on pattas, against lalluu bowlers, like 2005 Bengaluru, 2006 Wankhede. 

 

I can only think of Sunny, VVS, Pant when it comes to batsmen who could fight it out in 4th innings. All the others used to average 20-30 below their overall avg and barely any impact even there.

Don't forget the 300 chase in Sharjah at 6 rpo (2013?), unthinkable that team, especially with Misbah in charge. That Lankan team had Mahela, Sanga, Mendis, peak Angelo, lost aura after that defeat.

Pak batting unit would have won Mumbai 2024 vs NZ and Eden 2025 vs SA easily..

Our midgets nearly choked at Ranchi 2023 as well.. despite a flying 80 odd start by Rohit Jaiswal in a 170 run chase

That is not fair, Indians rarely get to play of flat wickets where 4th innings totals can be chased.

But they don't do much in SENA either where pitches get flatter with time.

They look comfortable against anyone but Rana.

Feeding spin to Sajid isn't a bright idea imo
