Am not sure this rule should apply to fast bowlers. Rotating them is a good thing.

I can't say this enough :wall: ... for fast bowlers, rotating is not chopping/changing/dropping. Keep everybody in the scheme of things and go with the hot hand. Maybe test cricket should introduce in-match substitutions for fast bowlers :-).

Unless Siraj himself wants rest it is not a good idea to rotate for the sake of rotating with each bowler playing a certain role. As Brett Lee say he would bowl until he completely breaks down.

But people wanted Gurnoor ahead of PRasdham in the first test. Now we have changed tune :) Team culture doesn't work that way. You can' t arbirtrarily drop players based on match to match form. It will completey destroy the team spirit.   This is no different from Indai carrying Abhishek despite a string of low scores. You cannot make even senior players insecure by chopping and changing.

Should not play an unfit player. This will not make anyone insecure.

Is he unfit in the first place? He looked alright.

Siraj is more or less a single format bowler now with the guys like Harshit, GUrnoor, ARshdeep coming into ODI set up to join Bumrah. We already have Pandya, Reddy.  Resting him doesnt make much sense.

We used to do this regularly in the late 2010s. And was done by champion man-manager Shastri. Never affected team spirit.

In tests, Bhuvi was picked when conditions favoured swing. Umesh was picked on slow decks which needed his extra pace and reverse swing.

Similarly Siraj does well when there is either swing on offer like England or the pitch offers pace and bounce like Australia. Looks below par on slow tracks. And should be utilized as such.

Gambhir lacks the tactical acumen to do this. Shastri had it in test matches.

A fit Siraj does not run in gingerly and bowl 122 k to 131 k without zip.

Never seen him drop below 128 k earlier.

Umesh yadav was good ebcause of reverse swing at home. Only him and Shami could reverse. Bhuvi was unsuitable in Australia. But played only 1 test on a road wicket which ended in draw.. IN other places he was very effective. Umesh himself averaged 50 in that series.

Both Bhuvi and Umesh were utilized based on conditions. Did not play every test.

Bumrah and Shami were the only all-condition picks.

Umesh should have played more in SENA tbh

Umesh always struggled in SENA coz he bowled straight at the stumps mostly.

He lacked channel bowling and keeping the ball at 5th/6th stump.

But this trait made him a legendary bowler in India & subcontinent

He did play enough. He was erratic. For some reason he was very good in India. Ishant was the onl one who could control his line and length before Booms. Shami was good. But he was grossly unfit. So was Bhuvi. OUr fast bowling was an embarrassment before Booms.

Siraj is not unfit, he is been bowling like this fr sometime now , even in white-ball he bowls just 135 kmph and only bowls fast in few spells.

He bowls sub 135 kmph in test mostly, think even in eng before the last test he was bowling 130ish kmph.

Shami and Bhumrah are #1/2 bowlers umesh/Sharma/Bhuvi are not that good be #1/2 they are good #3/4.

Umesh was good in Ind because he was not the main wkt taker but was like a partnership breaker , he had good reverse and can bowl with high pace all through the test.

Plus he was skiddy which is v.imp in Ind conditions. Ability to reverse at high pace, skiddy, high -sustained pace and not the spearhead of bowling line-up helped him.

In Ind spinner where main wkt taker, so he can bowl some over where his line length was not good and come back when reverse swing was happening

True.

And Siraj and Prasidh are also 3rd pacer material. They should be picked only if conditions suit their bowling styles or top 2 are not available.

Gurnoor is 1st / 2nd pacer material if he keeps his focus intact and stays fit.

Bumrah of course remains the 1st pacer if fit.

Think they are looking to lock Gurnoor for the Odi wc hence not playing him tst and T20s much, they do not want injury to him

Because he is workhorse cum impact bowler. If any of our bowlers bowled 5 tests in a row like him they would have been in NCA. I have seen Rabada consistently hitting 125 to 130 k in tests in some phases. In Test he doesn't strive for 150ks.
