Psl is only successful to the PCB because they get the money from the broadcaster.

The broadcaster in this case is under severe losses because they couldn't monetize the league enough. Tough to monetize the league when the milbus buys sub rights at a pittance.

As of now the broadcaster hasn't paid the money , the PCB hasn't paid the franchises their money and all the PCB has is the bank guarantee that can be withdrawn. If the PCB does do that , who will come up and pay for the rights next time.

Add to that they are playing it in same window as IPL , there is no point broadcaster is losing the sub-leasing part as well as ppl will be more interested in watching ipl.

The psl model is such that board makes the money off the owner and broadcasters

If PSL is in hot waters than Pak cricket is drowning and it's going to get more chaotic.

That Naqvi guy has too much power that no one dares to question him in Pakistan and they are literally scared to even blame him.  They keep glazing him that he is trying his best but his advisors are to blame.

So overall problem is not only financial but also administrative.

India banning PSL broadcast is the smartest thing we have done.

We have to make sure that they sanitize the YouTube once more and their cricket channels get with alt accounts get banned once more.

Some stupid Indians still watch and give superchat money to these bhikaris.

1. Pakistan doesn't have the middle class population that India has.

2. They are still stuck up in the BCCI's doordarshan era where every home match has to be given to their state run TV at minimal rates. There's not too much of money paid for an advertisement slot too because the state run companies know that they can advertise for relative pittances.

3. Most of the richer folks routinely run Indian dish tv setups. While giving Indian cable operators money, that doesn't help the broadcasting industry in Pakistan one bit.

Add in all this and then factor in the 70m or so losses that PCB has had to absorb due to there being no guarantee India tour , They are in dire condition. A bilateral Tour by India would give them money to hide their systematic flaws and still have enough to run youth camps to get in younger talent through. With that avenue gone, They are having to rely on their domestic market to raise revenue (apart from the ICC revenue) which isn't enough.

Yeah, you need good systems or better financial resources to efficiently run an organisation. PCB has neither, that's why the current predicament.

Think ppl are over-streching the financial point yes it does have it merits but the issue again is trying to create fake star players.

It was same when Ind was playing same players in 3 formats and hoping to win something.

pak cricket has forced same player in all the formats and that caused the issue, till the bowling was good it looked good as soon as bowlers' prime declined the underlying issue unfolded. Now they look bad in all 3 formats and the start was asa-cup before the Odi wc.

Ind did this gill bringing him to t20is , we saw what impact it had in the side, a 220 side was reduce to hardly getting 175. Gill is still to perform in any big event or a game but he is the captain .

Think Ind has lost 3 out of 5 Odi series since Gill took over captaincy, of which one is vs afgn and other was SA think it was a v.close win as well.

Ind has tried to  create fake stars too or 3 formats player and gill is 3rd iteration, rishab , kl and now gill and Ind suffered due to that, Ind course corrected in t20is and it worked for them, but again now they are trying to make many players as multi-format players and they are struggling again.

Nope. This is about Pakistan not being able to invest in grassroots cricket.

They could previously do that till the 2010s because there were bilaterals between the two teams. Now , without the finances from the India tour , there is no money for grassroots cricket.

Add in the systemic corruption in Pakistan and this is what happens.

Bangladesh have been improving throughout the time India has been playing them. They drew series at home vs Eng and Aus as well as in NZ and SL and won in Pak pre Hasina ouster.

Afg will be a major white ball nation soon. In fact they have already improved so much as can be seen in their performances in 23 and 24 WCs.

Yes, every country has a reason apart from those that India wants to destroy.

There are exceptions, there are this, there are that, …, …

It's a morally corrupt society. No amount of money can improve its system or mental makeup. I , with a cup of tea in my hand , am enjoying their downfall both in cricket and as a nation.

No bilateral money. No IPL money. No Indian money in PSL. Less money - weaker infra, weaker systems.

India has basically "sanctioned" Pakistan cricket. As India becomes richer and increases its hold over cricket, Pakistan will diminish further.

Nepal and Afghanistan next two teams to make the jump. USA and UAE too, due to their IPL funded leagues.

I will blame 20 percent on lack of indian money.  They have failed to create a system which rewards true performance and age based cricket . Random plucking of some street fast bowlers is not working anymore as world is used to pace . Lack of reverse swing is another killer . Their batsmen were always subpar - they haven’t produced a Dravid level player leave alone a Tendulkar or a Gavaskar.

Final blow is by their own politics and consistency . No coach gets a clear tenure . Board run by politicians .

for those who don’t know , prior to 1983 , cricket in India was very similar . We didn’t cheat on reverse swing but boards were basically run on nepotism etc . Pak is still in that era.

their national gdp is also on decline . This also has an effect on all their sports. They used to be a good hockey team but now routinely loose to India .

Running grass roots cricket development needs money and here Aquib Javed admits the lack of it.

Q: Why are consistent bowlers like Mohammad Abbas routinely dropped while struggling batters go uncorrected?

Aaqib Javed:
“While established players carried the team post-2017, the system failed to run parallel grassroots development to prepare the next generation. Secondly, red-ball cricket has been severely impacted by the financial dominance of global T20 leagues. Previously, players prioritized First-Class and Test cricket. Today, lucrative T20 contracts draw player focus away from multi-day cricket, directly affecting their development in the longer format.”

Q: If current players lack grooming and grassroots talent is depleted, is there any real hope for the future?

Aaqib Javed:
“Hope lies in the structural rebuilding currently underway—re-establishing the NCA and launching dedicated U15, U17, U19, and Pakistan Shaheens programs. Club and school cricket cannot function as they used to, so central academies must develop talent. Simultaneously, established players must recognize their obligation to play domestic four-day cricket to maintain their red-ball skills alongside T20 commitments.”

You are completely wrong on India. Since 2013 CT India had won most matches in ICC tournaments. They just failed to win finals or semifinals.

Once they broke thru in t20 world cup, they won CT too with mostly same players. It would have been one of the greatest teams if they won 2023 finals. One loss in three ICC tournaments.

It is like Pakistanis saying after Chndrayaan failures. We are same boat as India . India was knocking on door for a decade just did not get over the hump.

Exactly.

It will show up in other stuff too over next 10-15 years.

Not sure how it was wrong about Ind team , since the CT-25 Ind has lost 3 out of 5 odis series , and the one vs SA was a close one as well and other win was vs  Afgn.

Since the t20i wc Ind has lost 2 out of 3 t20is series and one series win is vs zim.

T20s are fast evolving format , pak was  in F and SF in the t20i WCs before 2024 t20i wc.

The thing is because Ind has won the ct and back to back t20i wc these series losses are brushed under the carpet. For t20is series its oky there is time for next t20i wc and need to figure out wht should be the composition for Aus+Nz.

But losing Odi series in odi wc cycle is where the things are not going in right direction and that can not be neglected.

Yes bhumrah and pandaya are major players in Ind set-up, but this just shows if bhumhra is not not there the batter can not out score opp. and bowling is not good enough of hold back or win on their owm.

If Ind would have lost these series without 4/5 top-players and tried new players then it would have not been concerning but Ind played with full batting strength and nearly 80% of bowling.

Like dip in tests is understandible, Ind lost 5/6 test players in no time and there was no other players in the pipe line no back-ups were created.

Yes few selections are questionable , but even if the top ranji players were selected there would have been similar dip as there was no development program for next test players.

Aus lost to Bd but they tried multiple new players and most of the top bowlers and batters were not there in the side

those two are the most important players in the team though due to how high quality they are and relative mediocrity of replacements. losing them is more impactful than losing batsmen.
