DomainK Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I have had serious trouble with Norton in the past. I removed it started using AVG and never had any problem after that. Its freeware and very effective. More effective than the paid and more famous ones. But I am still not sure which anti spyware would be the best to use. I have used yahoo (from the toolbar) which is not bad. I have also used lavasoft which is not bad at all (helped me clean up after I uninstalled Norton). But is there another one which is even better? I have been advised by some friends to switch to nod32 from avg for AV. But I am quite happy with AVG right now.

You couldn't be anymore wrong than that THX. Where its true that such malicious contents are found mostly on porn and other download sites, they are very much present outside such sites as well.
Willow_on_fire Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Norton anti-virus( corporate edition) & spy sweeper work fine for me. I do get some odd virus file from Lime-wire...but still they get detected and quarantined...no problems so far.

Ram Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I had some problems too and after reading one of the threads here, I bought Webroot's one year subscription for about $50. I now feel its worth every cent of it. Till a while ago, I had this mentality of 'Well, who would ever spend money on anti-virus, I'll just get the best one'. But now I realize what a stupid approach that is. Most anti-viruses cost around $50 bucks for an annual subscription, which is about $4/month. In exchange for that, you get excellent system performance and above all, peace of mind. Personally, I would strongly recommend Webroot.
