Gambit
Utter Rubbish !!! Wouldn't be that harsh on him. He's just below mediocre in T20.
King
The pitch was good to bat on and I don't know what Dhoni was doing out there. Honestly the game was robbed by Dhoni. The only four he hit was off a full toss. Extremely poor batting by Dhoni. So much for asking his players to play without fear he fears failure like hell. He just doesn't want to get out and score at run a ball. Dismal batting I agree. Still we had good fun. But for the Indian game we don't quite get such an atmosphere in Wellington. The atmosphere at the ground was electric.
Gambit
^^ There was terrific desi maal on display as well. :winky: Regarding Dhoni, I remember an article on Sachin which came out in 2003 titled 'Sachin in chains'. It lamented how SRT had shackled himself and wasn't the free flowing bat he was earlier in his career. The same seems to be happening to MSD. Is this the same guy who made 183*? Ok, you own a ferrari and live in Delhi. You drive very very cautiously in North Delhi, not wanting a micron of damage on your car. You are somewhat more relaxed and put more pedal to the metal in Central Delhi but are still wary of idiots trying to bang into you. But when you hit the Delhi-GGN highway, you let that baby fly! In the same fashion, I love the way MSD bats with application in tests(quite a turn around from the 2 atrocious shots in the 4th innings at Mumbai v England 2006) and with a steely/will not get out fashion in ODIs but in T20, his approach is inscrutable! This is a format for him to unleash the demon within but for some strange reason he holds himself back.
cowboysfan
gambhir and veeru were the reason we lost both games.without good starts in t20 we do have a problem and that was exposed.gambhir looked clueless today-very shocking.
Lord
I DONT WANT HIM TO BE DROPPED,but he has to be criticised.he was the sole reason we lost today.made 28 off 30 balls .u have to scor atleast 40 if yr going to waste 30 balls. that was the difference of good 10-15 rns in final total. n then even his captaincy was incomprehensible. wen 23 were needed off 2 overs,he brought on yuvraj.surely sehwag n Y. pathan are better bowlers than him.has dhoni forgotten 5 sixes he conceded?it could have been sealed in that over

Shane
thanx for the compliment but have u read my full post:giggle: No, actually got carried away with the Intro, now i think i shld have reserved my comment :--D, as pj said MSD is no Mohandas Menon, he goes on his instinct, which is right on most occasions, well Yuvi bowled OK, its kinda what we can expect when a Batsman goes after a part timer !!! All i wished Dhoni had done was to introduce him in the middle overs along with RJad and Bhaj, we could have got away with a few cheap ones and saved Zak for the end, all said and done we lost this coz our batsman. Yes, Dhoni was not at his best today and so was Gambo, he too scratched around a bit, but i dont see any one calling for his head, i cant wait for the first ODI so that MSD can set the record straight !!! I completely agree Dhoni couldnt find his touch today and being critical here is perfectly justified but someone earlier mentioned Dhoni's last 5 performances citing that as the reason for him to be dropped, look at what Gambo had to offer in the last few 9,13,6,10. :((

Shehezaada
Dhoni needs to learn how to switch gears. He still has it in him to be a huge hitter. He shouldn't be dropped, he's our first choice wicket keeper and Kartik is a dumbass. Today's effort was not the greatest but he''ll get better. This is coming from someone who doesn't really like Dhoni too much to be honest. I'm a growing fan but he still hasn't sold me yet. And sometimes you have an off day where you can't time it. Can't expect SR of 150 each time right? This seems to be the first time where is slow batting has cost us the game.
coffee_rules
This was how Dravid used to play in ODIs and all others were playing around him. I guess the team strategy is for someone in the MO to be around till the end. But Dhoni who is originally an aggressive player is not the right one for that job. He has forgotten how to attack. rahulrulezz
Totally agreee...Me and my friends were giving Galiyaans to Dhoni during the entire Indian innings..its ok to play defensily in first 3-4 overs ..but the guy played 18th over yesterday as if it was a test match... seems like Dhoni looks to improve his average on the cost of strikerate... notice his so many not outs lately.... some1 needs to tell him that there is time to defend but sometimes u have to attack..it was embarassing that likes of Jadeja, I.Pathan were looking to score runs and this guy was playing his tuktuk

Mr. Wicket
Dropped, no. Dropped down the order, perhaps. Keep in mind that he plays both as a keeper and batsman. While his batting may not be ideal right now, he's still the best keeper in the country. Nothing wrong with keeping him in the XI and letting him bat behind the Pathans to give the real hitting power more time at the crease.
