Well done Ratan Tata, Ravi Kant and everyone else who worked on this project. Mileage is expected to be around 20 KM. It's got a 683 CC engine. Can't wait to see it on the road

From what I have heard (missed the news), there are two versions. One is 120000 and the other is 180000. The second one comes with ac and power steering, the first one does not. But the most amazing thing: You can book one for 3000.:omg:

This is going revolutionize family transport in India. Tens of thousands of middle class households which were till now reliant on two-wheelers can now afford the luxury of owning a car. Interesting, even if the car sells record numbers, it is not expected to add too much to Tata Motors’ top and bottom-line, because the margins are so small. It looks like Ratan Tata decided to do this car more as a gift to those millions of middle-income households, rather than to actually make money. What a man, what a company! On the flip-side, this could spell disaster to traffic congestion in big cities. Our cities are already clogged up with vehicles.

Love the little car.Saw the photo of the orange one...it really looks as cute as a beetle. State Bank of India is providing 100% finance.Just imagine ...take home a car for Rs 2099.But only the lucky ones who win the lottery will get it. Ratan Tata is Indian no 1 for me!:isalute::isalute:

but what about traffic guys? its already a big time headache in Bombay..
This car will cause havoc in Bombay. Several suggestions have been made to stop the situation from getting out of control. Like only those with a parking place should be allowed to buy a car. But such restrictions are hard to place.

May be the cars that are three times bigger than the nano and less than one third as fuel efficient as the nano should be made to stay at home .That is a solution...na? I am surprised that no body objects to people buying ugly cars with backsides as big as a truck congesting the roads or causing parking havoc ,because they use up more than double the space of two small cars and still have their ugly backside hanging halfway on to the road. Why no objections to that?

Have they started putting ads for this car on T.V?
They don't need to spend on advertising.....this little car is on everyones mind,on every channel without them even making an effort. Most of the advertising is online.Besides they have let the business chanells test drive and showcase the car. Most reports seem positive.

BTW there has been suggestions of replacing all auto rickshaws with nanos in Mumbai. It will be cool if that happens.
Nano has been built as a family car for towns ,villages and smaller cities. If that can happen....itwill be good for every one.
