As Coffee rightly said it's the car that was insured not the driver. ravi, Whoa! That's sad. New car! Did your friend at least offer to help defray your costs or trouble? My dad always used to tell me: Never borrow a friend's car or some expensive items. In case something happens, even if we compensate them monetarily, they may be unhappy since this may be something they were sentimental about (and money cannot give it back). Relationship may be affected by such unfortunate incidents, and hence stay away from borrowing such expensive items. Good advice from my Dad :thumbs_up:

Anyways the insurance covered it and my mate pretty much drove the car to the panel beater and fixed it while I was overseas. All it took was a phone call or two to my insurance company to get the car fixed. She was/is a good friend and we don't even remember that instance much. Your thread reminded me that.

What would the average person know about this? I have never reached a stage, yet, where I had to drive someone else' car no have I ever lent my car to anyone else. Cars are expensive. It just aint worth it

People have had experiences - read the posts in this thread for examples - I am sure there are more examples not yet posted here. Contrary to what you think people have been there, done that, and have experiences to share. Cars are expensive. It just aint worth it yaar, in USA - it is very difficult to live life without a car!

Thats precisely my point.. its not like its asking what kind of insurance I can go for if I want to let my friend drive.. but the question here is can a friend drive your car .... ofcourse jackshyte.. if he knows how to drive and if u give him ur key, he can drive.. and regarding the insurance whether or not you will be covered depends on what kind of policy you have taken..and you can only know if u go thru ur insurance contract or ask your agency..... you cant just like that ask people's opinion cuz thats not gonna help you answer your question in OP .. everyone here will say it depends.. i dont think so kinda answers.... ofcourse if u wanan stage a dram and seek attention.. ya its dones already.. sree_india, You'd be surprised. One of my friend had my card for 3 months back in 2002. I have just borrowed car once and driven somebody's car with the owner in the car few times. But i wont nromally do that.
