Ok what is our full strength T20 side now?

Recommended Posts

Before the tournament, someone please hypnotize Rohit and make him think as though its the IPL. :D On the topic, this will be my team*; GG Viru Raina UV Rohit MSD Yusuf Irfan Bhajji RPS/Ishant PK/Ishant I will rotate between RPS, Ishant and PK so that we have some variety in the bowling. And honestly, that is some batting line-up, if they can get their act together. * - Zak is unavailable due to fitness concerns.

Rohit Sharma is the X factor in the middle order ... He has had a poor 12 months in the Indian side, yet his IPL form was good and there is no doubt that when in form he can be a freakish talent. If he fires in this T20 world cup, which i really hope he does (I still think he is the next big star in Indian batting), then it adds so much depth to our middle order ... Raina is in sensational form atm, Yusuf Pathan is one of the most devastating hitters in the world, and there isnt a boundary small enough to stop Yuvraj when in form. Hopefully Rohit can reproduce the form he produced in the last T20 world cup. I have my concerns about our bowling. I dont think its as strong as people think. If Zaheer is there yes great, but I still dont think we have a bowler (Zaheer aside maybe) capable of firing in yorkers consistently at the death. Something that Malinga does for Sri Lanka. Its something that is worth considering ... that is ... just having a specialist yorker bowler. Someone who can fire in yorkers at will.

RP can do that

^ I hope so, but I havent seen any of our bowlers consistently do that in International games. RP has done it in some spells before, Zaheer has done it in some spells before ... Ive even seen Pathan do it now and then, but if we are going to win the tournament, we need at least one of our pacemen doing that every game in the tournament. I think Pathan should try to specialise in that, because he doesnt have the pace to worry batsman with a bouncer or even a length ball.

irfan does it n mixes slower balls with it too.only yorkers will make u predictable. All RP,Zak n Irfan can do it,but if someone does it consistently well,it is Zak. about Irfan's pace he clocked 140+ on a no. of times in IPL,so he can crank it up

Sehwag Gambhir Raina Yuvraj Rohit Y. Pathan Dhoni ( c ) I. Pathan / Praveen Kumar Ojha / Harbhajan RP. Singh Zaheer I would like to put Irfan in there, for sure, but I feel that 3 left armers might not be the best way to go. I cant see Ishant Sharma in my top 11 given his recent form.
Seems about right, also would mean we'd have batting potential pretty deep, IMO if Sehwag and Gambhir aren't in form, it is necessary to bat deep.

i think we should try Ojha instead of bhajji in early matches.
Especially against Pakistan in warm up. They get out to any left arm spinner. Monty, Harris. Those cross batted sloggers don't like when the ball turn away from them. But i won't read too much into a warm up match. It is a match where you try to get all your players into form.

He wants to take revenge of hitting he got in last T20 wc final from misbah... He will give his best.

Well you can still have variation even within a yorker ... like u said u can vary pace but also, some can be a foot outside off , others can be right on the stumps. But generally speaking, if u were to bowl 24 yorkers in ur T20 spell, even if the batsman could predict u, its unlikely u would be going for 20 an over. PLus, you could set the field accordingly. Not to mention ... swing!!! When the batsman bowls yorkers the main scoring area is fine leg (by shuffling accross ur stumps), or charging down and hitting it on the full through midwicket or cover. You could put people there and thus for the batsman it becomes a huge risk to do that 24 times in an innings. The batsman would probably gain 15-20, maybe 25 runs at most during the spell but its unlikely ur gonna see 10+ run overs with this sort of tactic. I feel that any successful T20 team needs to have 1 bowler capable of bowling an entire spell of yorkers.

Sehwag - he is hit or miss, but a very dangerous opponent. i am in high tension when sehwag is batting in the middle Gambhir - he is very consistant, a very annoying player for opponents. i hate seeing his face because i always rated him low. Raina - have not seen him much againts my team. but have heard a lot about him. will back the team up well. Yuvraj - he is as dangerous as in form afridi and more consistant. he can be brutal and i love to see him struggling to hit the ball like he so easily can. Rohit - don't know him much, so am most likly to under estimate him. Y. Pathan - is brutal hitter of the ball but if he comes good. and if he does i would hate it to be against my team. Dhoni ( c ) - he is front engine of the train. he will get the best out of his players and earn his respect through his own performance. until this guy is out, don't count urself out of the game. I. Pathan / Praveen Kumar - irfan is a good choice, he can vary the pace good and bat too. Ojha / Harbhajan - harbhajan would be my choice RP. Singh - shall see how he does each game Zaheer - he will be the backbone of your bowling lineup and if there is anyone that could be the determining factor in india's team, it will be him. if he can do his magic, india will make it to the final and have a chance to claim the grand prize again.

This is how i want warm up match to go. India wins the toss bats first scores 200 runs. Then the second session gets rained out :--D.
