Yoda-esque Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I did meet the Hawaldar (Ganpat) at Thakur Complex. He looked exactly the same, was also wearing a typical hawaldar waala shorts. I looked at him then thought hard where I had seen him, he started to laugh. I laughed out too when I remembered. Nukkad was a good serial. Guru-Teacherji pair was awesome. Actually Thakur Complex used to have a lot of 2nd string television stars. I remember running into Lalita Ji (Surf waali), Sudhir Dalvi ( the Sai Baba character) and quite a few back then. By the way no takers for Yeh jo Hai Jindagi? Best TV show...epitomized pre-lib India in the best possible way. Shafi Inamdar,Swaroop ,Satish,Vijay Kashyap,Sulbha Arya and Rakesh Bedi :hatsoff:

First memories of any serial I remember awaiting eagerly. Used to telecast at 6pm or so. Once I remember we watched at a neighbor's place and once I came back home, I switched on the tv saying - "it has yet to come on our TV". [ I could have very well patented the idea of on-site buffering - and be a patent troll like Apple etal :(( ]

Khalpat Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I firmly believe that some sadist were in charge of scheduling DD program those days, who would stop the live telecast of cricket matches for some stupid scheduled “Sugam Sangeet” (wonder who ever watched that?). Remember the time, when a political figure died and all you heard was “teu teu” on the tanpoora for 3 frigging days. Granted the person who dies was important but then listening to that music would definitely make even the dead turn in grave. There was also the famous “Rukavat ke liye khed hai” (Sorry for the interruption) poster which was put up whenever there was transmission failure. Btw, wasn’t that actually handwritten by someone on a piece of cardboard? You could actually see the “paper folds” on that poster. Remember the piece on “Didi, didi, hume bhi sunao na…” and “ek chidiya” which were almost forgotten till they resurfaced back on youtube?

I loved watching Buniyaad,YJHZ,SpiderMan,Idhar-Udhar,The World This Week,Kacchi Dhoop,Katha Sagar,Giant Robot,DDs Comedy show. I also loved the regional films on Sunday afternoons. Everything on just seems classless now starting with the news :facepalm:
