Everytime India started as a favorite they went down with a wimp! -- 87 WC, 96 WC etc. Everytime they were considered rank outsiders -- they went on to win the WC -- 83 WC, 85 B & H, Last T-20 WC etc. So watch for India to not even make it to the Semis

SRT is right. This Indian team is the most balanced I've seen in some time for limited overs cricket: 1. Batsmen that can play long innings: Dhoni, Gambhir 2. Power hitting: Sehwag, Yuvi, Yusuf 3. Excellent spin options: Bhajji, Ojha, Jadeja, Raina/Rohit/Yusuf 4. Good Seam/Swing: PK, Zaheer, RP 5. Solid fielding with our young guns and that added extra of playing without fear India aren't guaranteed to make the finals but it'll take a very good team playing at it's best to compete/beat us.

or India playing at its worst. In a perfect world all Indians would fire perfectly. But it is not a perfect world. Remember how we made a mess of a chase against Dilshan led T20 side of Srilanka. Yusuf and Irfan had to bail them out from an impossible situation.

Or a good one that's a lot more rested and fresh. Dhoni and co have been playing pretty much non-stop cricket for a long time now. Aside from the small break in between where we should have played Terroristan, they've been at it non-stop playing Australia, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and then the IPL. Ishant didn't bowl in the *** end of the season/IPL with the same fire and energy he had at the start against Australia. Sehwag and Gambhir both looked tired and fatigued towards the end. Not surprisingly, the guys who had long breaks - RP Singh, Raina, Dravid and Kumble - and were not playing tests cricket constantly for differing reasons (RP not picked, Raina only played ODIs, Dravid only played tests, Kumble had his feet up post-retirement) after were the stand out Indian players in the IPL.

India is a top contender but in Twenty20s the best contenders may not always win as we have seen in the recent edition of IPL. India was not considered favorite in the last edition of Twenty20 WC but they surprised all and sundry by consistently beating top teams. I wouldn't bet on anyone in the forthcoming Twenty20 considering how it fluctuates. There is no 100% recipe for success. The 4 teams that reach semi finals can all be deemed as favorites. I think India, South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka may get to the semis. I would think Pakistan is a strong contenders too but they haven't played enough cricket recently to test themselves against different opponents.

I would expect India to reach the semis, but will not call India as the favourites. I would consider SA, NZ, and Pak to be the teams to beat. One good thing about the Indian team is that of late they have shown no fear of failure while playing. That could work to their advantage. And most importantly, how the seamers perform.

20-20 is a lottery. A freak couple of overs can win or lose you the game. Noone is a favorite.

Dude, have you seen the schedule for the T20 WC? The winner will have to play around 2 matches in a week on average lasting a couple of hours. Most people that age go through more strenous activities in their holidays, especially on honeymoons!!! I'm willing to bet serious ICF money that the likes of Yuvi, Zak etc probably have to go through more work chasing/deflecting fans/women when they are away from cricket than playing a T20 tournament. I've seen Sreesanth/Bhajji dance appearances where they probably put more work in than a 4 over spell in the IPL!!!!

Players jaded but Dhoni hopeful of defending World T20 title

MUMBAI: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Friday admitted that cricketers were tired after a hectic IPL but said he had a balanced team which could defend the title in the World Twenty20 Championships, beginning on June 5 in England. Dhoni also said the just-concluded Indian Premier League extravaganza in South Africa was more beneficial for his side because it provided players with exposure and helped them to learn coping with the pressure of an international event. "I am happy with the balance in our squad. Hopefully, we can defend out title," a jaded-looking Dhoni said at a press conference. "When you play so many matches you do get tired, after all its a human body, but it (IPL) helped us a lot in terms of exposure and skills. So it was more beneficial for us," he said. "It's very important to cope with the pressure in international events specially in the Twenty20 where you do not get time to recover and IPL helped the players handle that well," he added.

It is difficult to predict the exact winners in T20 but hope India again retains the title. :two_thumbs_up:

After effects of IPL. Last year he took time off a test series. But this year he cannot because he is the captain. India doesn't have Tests for 6 months though which is poor scheduling. More T20s than Tests.
