Someone care to explain me why wasn't Manoj Tiwari not a given a second run when we was flown from India to Australia 2 days prior to the match where he was jetlagged, had no batting practice and was asked to face a fiery Brett Lee spell which ended his debut in about 2-3 balls. Is Dhoni anti-kolkata too now ? Rohit Sharma was asked to open in Sehwag's absence for team's cause and he failed miserably. Rohit is a strong T20 middle order batsman and its been proven in the past. How come none of you cried foul about that ? You guys are ridiculous.Instead giving a cricketing reason you talk about regionalism.

Badrinath is not as bad as some make him out to be, also not as good as some make him out to be. He has more positives than negatives. He plays risk free cricket an essential for Test cricket. I like to consider the following players in future tours 1) Rahane 2) Pujara 3) Mukund

b4 that lets ask this question: how come none of the resident experts whined about Rohit inclusion in ODI team after being so inconsistent with the bat.. why wasnt he called a failure avergaing jus 27 after so many chances? no one whined abt rohit being given the opener's slot cuz he did very well in his 1st 2 matches.. if he had failed in the 1st 2matches, then u wud have seen the whine fest here.. even in this IPL, i was whining abt dhoni coming at 3 n playing tuk tuk cricket ahead of inform players like raina and yuvi... was there a regionalism?

Not only you, but even the "Dhoni-worshippers" slaughtered Dhoni's tactical errors and his slow nature of batting. That's the most one can do, unlike some who will keep whining about it in each and every thread on ICF (and by some I mean IT :winky:).

Good luck Badri, he looks a decent player but the selectors will probably not be as patient with him as he isn't that young. This could even probably be his last opportunity.

Positives about Badri Tremendous first class experience Decent technique Good fielder Good Temperament Negatives about Badri Age (shouldn't be an issue. But it will be an issue) Lack of confidence in his abilities. Having said that Dravid was a flop in one day career when he started. It was only after he started playing Tests his class was revealed.

^ Big negative is not grabbing chances when the spotlight is on you at a big stage. Despite all the talent and determination, this is what brings him down. Good luck to him on the WI tour and hope he scores well (if at all kaptaan gives him a decent batting chance).

Agree. He is well suited for Tests, but unfortunately these days 50 overs and T20s are the barometer, so he has to do well in ODIs to get entry into Test squad.

Just cuz one can't manufacture 'modern day LOI shots' it does not make him a test material. I guess by your barometer, Ravinder Jadeja too is a suited for tests

^ He has primarily done well in the 4-day/2-innings format (that is where he has earned his stripes and that is why he is a contender in selection meetings) and has the technique better suited for the longer version.

Rahul Dravid's initial one day outings were disasters. If India decided to go by his ODI credentials he would have never played for India. We have so many evidences of one day specialists, Test flops. Michael bevan, Ajay Jadeja, Mohammad Kaif, Yuvraj singh. Almost all the great players India produced started their career at Test level. I am yet to see a ODI specalist who went on to become a classic Test batsman. Most of the Test batsmen were picked based on their domestic performances.
