Cricketics Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Not because we won our world cp 2 years ago there so I am giving them a point for being better host, but because England grounds have too many restrictions for a 2020 game, I must say that in South Africa the 07 world cup really rocked. Can't forget the sight of those flags held high by Indian supporters during the game against Australia and South Africa. Here in England, Stewards looked to be ready after every wicket fall or a six, to catch a person who is being too animated. I think South Africa was a better host of T-twenty world cup. I expected bit better from England Indian matches had great atmosphere in England, no doubt about it. But still some as a total host, South Africa tops for me.
flamy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 no doubt. england is boar. although the national anthem was cool :isalute:
Jai Ho Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 England is boring, dull and depressing due to the rain. Plus India going out early didn't help. :cantstop:
Rajiv Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 The oommphh was misisng this time for sure Actually SA, AUS, IND are the best for Big Tourneys
cowboysfan Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 the announcer guys in south african grounds are awesome.everything they did was perfect for t20.having said that england were not bad at all.
Cricketics Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 England = perhaps the best place to watch test cricket, or even a bilateral odi series but certainly not a twenty20 tournament of this kind. having said that, they hosted an awesome 50 over world cup in 1999.
jf1gp_1 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 IPl was hosted with only days notice, t20 WC was known for yrs yet see the difference
Guest gaurav_indian Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 South Africa >>> England in T20's and ODI's tournaments.
DaRealPathan Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 what r u guyz saying....England was the best lol...
bharat297 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 The crowds in South Africa are more lively when it comes to T20. However, remember that the last time the T20 world cup was played: * T20 was relatively new. Many teams hadnt even played T20 before. * Fans hadnt been exposed to T20 much so for them it was something new and exciting. * There was no IPL * India and Pakistan were in the final. If it was India vs Pakistan in the final for this world cup, it would have been crazy atmosphere aswell. England has better atmosphere for Tests though as we will see during the Ashes
Sachinism Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 ECB only want people to be boring tossers like those MCC members, just clap anything good and drink tea all day. They ban everything and anything that would create a good atmosphere.
Lord Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 overall a very boring world cup compared to SA.Firstly the crowds were not as funloving as SA.Then there were no standout performances like hattrick, six sixes in an over whch are remembered for a long time.then crappy scheduling ensured that Aussies r knocked out n Ireland go thru to super 8's which made some super 8 games boring.then there were considerably less no. of thrillers in the tourney
Rajiv Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Coincidence Pak lost to AUS in ENG WC Final but won 20/20 there Ind lost to AUS in SA WC Final but won 20/20 there
Bumblebee Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 some of te pitches prepared for this world cup were pathetic!!
hassan_113 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 How were the pitches pathetic? Because you couldn't just hit through the line and slam them for six every time? It was so good to see bowlers do well after such a long time and the crowds were very fun-loving...I was there. Maybe it's just that India won in SA and didn't this time. Even in Pak lost to SL, I feel the tournament was amazing in support for likes of India and Pakistan and the atmosphere was electric at the Pakistan v SA semi that I went to.
hassan_113 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Also...how many thrillers do you want?! The key matches were thrillers were they not? SA-nZ was thrilling but not vital..and the likes of Pak-SA, Ind-Eng, Eng-WI were thrillers and SL were pushed all the way by Ireland.
bharat297 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Coincidence Pak lost to AUS in ENG WC Final but won 20/20 there Ind lost to AUS in SA WC Final but won 20/20 there So then the next T20 world cup in West Indies will be won by Sri Lanka?
