ExpressPace
We need 3 GOOD FAST bowlers who can apply pressure on the opposition consistently. Today we had only one. vayuu1
You need thinking bowlers who can outfox batsmen ,as much as we criticise junaid and ajmal and co,you have to appreciate that they always look to outthought opponents it's not about having skills it's about implementing them, our bowlers well most of them are mentally weak, they look to contain, while forgetting that easiest way to contain is to get wicket Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk Link to comment

Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk It is obviously about grooming fast bowlers, no doubt about that. Otherwise the talent gets wasted. We have enough fast bowling talent in the country. It is high time we groom, encourage and utilize them. Link to comment

peterparker
By this logic, that express fast bowlers bowling at 150 range will make a great team in cricket, west indieis should be greatest. They still have pace batteries. It is bowlers who can pick wickets makes difference. Link to comment

peterparker
Yadav has the best SR among Indian bowlers. How much better? Can he demolish batting line ups? I am yet to see Indian bowlers who can demolish the batting line ups, barring zaheer khan, and to some extent mohammed shami, no one is capable of this. They don't have that wicket taking deliveries, they depend on batsman doing mistake. Good bowlers always keeps the batsman on backfoot, which ultimately gets them wicket. This is the difference. Bowling day in and day out, without getting tired, without dropping speed, maintaining the same level of intensity, and most important, picking up wickets, is what a champion bowler is. Only zaheer khan and anil kumble were capable of this, and that's why they are the india's best bowler. Srinath also was incapable of picking up wickets, and oh yes, he too is amongst the quick. But he never had the delivery to pick up wickets, and was on the shorter length of sides, except, ahemadabad 6-21 against rsa and wanderers 5 for something. So it is not about pace , it is about picking up the wickets. Link to comment

It also has to be about collective bowling unit, one bowler picking up 5 wickets is meaning less. Link to comment

Good in terms of wicket taking ability. Not necessarily the fastest pacer in the world but wicket taking bowlers with sufficient pace. Why do you think that we are desperate to include bad, erratic fast bowlers :cantstop: Link to comment
putrevus
Let us not get carried away by anointing Yadav. No fricking bowler is going come and save Indian team's bacon by himself. Yadav is out of the team for a reason he has been spray gun. Every fricking bowler need to pull his socks and do better otherwise this team is going to be whipped. Link to comment

So it is not about pace , it is about picking up the wickets. It is obviously about taking wickets. To take wickets consistently, in a variety of different conditions, either some pace or steep bounce, is almost a necessity for a pacer. Medium pacers take wickets only in certain conditions . All pacers, who have taken 200 wickets or more in tests, who have an average of less than 27 or a strike rate of less than 53, have been either FAST or really tall and bouncy fast medium bowlers. No medium pacers are there in all probability. Link to comment

No one is saying Yadav is a savior but pointing out on tradition in India where pacy bowlers who may be erratic but have potential are ignored for the name of lack of accuracy while the bowlers who are supposed to be accurate and consistent but slow are not doing anything too. Vinay Kumar played all this while due to that. Link to comment

Yadav has been horrible even in build up to this tour, erratic and was out bowled by many others. that said I would have played him, because I have no fricking trust in MM or BK. Link to comment
