Wasim: Sharma/Jadeja wasting opportunities

Recommended Posts

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram believes an overload of Twenty20 cricket has taken its toll on young Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. Batsman Sharma and all-rounder Jadeja have failed to impress in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies and Akram believes their participation in the Indian Premier League and World T20 has played a big role in their inability to perform in the 50-over format. "If you look at Rohit and Jadeja, yes, Twenty20 has affected their game. It's no point slamming a 15-ball 30 and a seven-ball 15. T20 is fun cricket. Judge a player on it, you are dead," exclaimed Wasim. "It's no point being a great talent. Talent comes and goes. When a youngster translates talent into performance, that's great. On their current form, both Rohit and Jadeja have miles to go. "I reckon, Rohit and Jadeja are wasting some great opportunities. No selector will pick you on your T20 ability. Prove yourself in 50-50 first. That will give you the key to Test cricket, the final goal," he concluded. Meanwhile, the West Indies have named an unchanged squad for the remainder of the four-ODI series, which is currently locked at one victory apiece. The Indians won the series opener by 20 runs last week, after which the hosts triumphed by eight wickets on Monday. The teams head to Beausejour, St Lucia for Friday's third one-dayer and Sunday's final encounter. West Indies squad: Chris Gayle, Denesh Ramdin, Lionel Baker, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Sulieman Benn, David Bernard, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Runako Morton, Ravi Rampaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Jerome Taylor. source- cricket365

he isnt wrong..
Exactly, look past who is saying it and look at what he is saying. These players have a wonderful opportunity to secure themselves a place in the team at such a young age, but they aren't putting in the performances that will get them those places for a long time

Jadeja played brilliantly in IPL' date=' IDK whatever happened to this bloke in England? Maybe it was the pressure or he say some soni kudis in the crowd and got stonned[/quote'] or Maybe.. he was always an average player and got picked due to regional bias...where there are hundreds of more qualified players than him that will never be selected.

Why are you placing so much emphasis in domestic cricket. This is the same domestic cricket in which Yusuf Pathan regularly takes 5-fers and we all know Yusuf Pathan cannot cut it at international level with the ball....
