The Realist
Watching Sharma bowl in the game today and in recent times one has to wonder what has happened to the fiery bowler who first burst on the world stage 18 months ago. He seems to lack everything at the moment. Poor line and length, so many balls short and wide and a couple of hit-me balls almost every over. He is becoming cannon fodder for the opposing batsmen who score runs off him at will. He takes very few wickets and concedes so many runs - his strike rate and economy rate are taking a beating. There seems to be no anger in his game - he gets hit for runs and just ambles back for some more treatment. Where is the passion? The pace has dropped off noticeably and that would be tolerable if the economy rate was decent but its not. Some of the problems can be blamed on fatigue but it is alarming that Sharma seems to have lost all the basics needed to be a good bowler. I hope he does not turn out to be another in the long and sad line of Indian bowlers who burst on the scene initially and then gradually become ineffective before fading into obscurity. DomainK
He never was an outstanding LOI bowler....was he? He always was a good test bowler and I am sure he still is. Link to comment
cowboysfan
if he keeps bowling like this then batsmen will attack him more in tests too.he needs a big break. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
He is never a decent bowler in short formats. His length bowling is perfect recipe for disaster. Ishant should play only Tests for couple of years. Link to comment
fineleg
^ Yes, just keep him for Tests, it is silly to play him in ODI/T20 where he has usually struggled. Link to comment
diegovegaz
it is his length primarily his line is not too accurate either instead of bowling in the corridor of uncertainity, just short of a length, he is giving wide short balls any international batsman will hit him away Link to comment

King Tendulkar
nothing went wrong a 20 yr old is tired and homesick It could well be that and I hope it is that. We will know more in a few months wether this is an issue with over playing or an issue with Ishant Link to comment
Kumar
blame BCCI his form is just so bad it cant be described hopefully dhoni can rest him which gives him a break and puts praveen on which im sure wont do as badly as ishant. Link to comment

hitman1980
One answer ... Prasad ... He himself was a dabba bowler and now turning IS into the same .. tell IS to bowl as fast as he can .. forget abt line and length... He surely can't concede more runs than he is doing now ... But by bowling fast he can grab some wickets atleast Link to comment
Dravid
just like every1 else in our team, he needs rest guys like sachin, zak, etc ask and get rested... dhoni etc need to do same.. losing 1 lame series aint gonna do jack Link to comment

fineleg
Over coaching and distractions outside cricket. I think if you put him in Test cricket, he'll still be ok. BCCI should really focus him on Tests. Link to comment
rahulrulezz
He really needs to work on his pace..even in OZ series in 2008, his was bowling short and wide deliveries..but coz he was bowling them above 145+, he was highly effective... dont know why he lost that motivation of bowling pure pace... I feel we can pick other bowlers who can peform better in the shorter format. Link to comment
