ViruRulez Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 dude dont talk like Patriot, see cricket beyond stats,Virat is a special talent, the way he plays spinners n even last night he didnt look fussed while facing 150+ bowling.also got hit by a beamer, but didnt show any emotion, doesnt that tell u anything about his mental toughness?as for S/R it'll improve once he bats in favourable conditions in India About Rohit ,he is a talent n was given ample opportunities, sadly he hasnt capitalized on them.imo now he can be tried in test squad because of his technique. Jadeja is a good find too as a allrounder, but he guts stuck,in T20 he was main reason for our loss to Eng.even tho he shouldnt have sent in the first place about Dhoni i said that he should be used wen the wicket is seaming or two bowl one-off over to unsettle the batsmen I am not pointing fingers at Kohli's abilities but many people have almost assumed beforehand that he is the future of Indian batting and that is what I do not accept.. let him prove himself to be a good batsman at the international level.. he is good but why are the other youngsters not as good... why is Jadeja not getting chances when he has just played just in one or two matches.. Kohli has good technique but I did not see any bad technique in Jadeja except that Jadeja has a comparatively bad SR for ODIs and T20s.. it was wrong to play him in t20 before letting him prove in ODIs and being a new player he took some more balls maybe I think we should not only concentrate on Kohli, Rohit or Jadeja and there should be young batting pool which we should give chances often.. whoever proves themselves consistently will make it to the ODI team in the near future.. it is simply "survival of the fittest" and whoever proves themselves will get their chances in the team ... frankly speaking we have such a huge batting backup of good batsmen that we should experiment properly before making the choices for the national team
coffee_rules Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Go with Parveen for a longer duration. He was great in Aus, but then he didn't play the next series. Now that RP Ishant sucked, Dhoni went back to Praveen. So, is he a backup or starter? I think he is a perfect ODI bowler when we have enuf on board. His military medium pace will get him wkts that batsmen give because of pressure of chasing a big total.
zub2006 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 It;s harsh to say Y Pathan is useless. He played one game. He out bowled H Singh in the game against Pakistan. You can't expect him to come on and get the runs when we require more then a run a ball. He cant even settle in.
jf1gp_1 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 For me big positive was Rohit Sharma wasnt playing; now noone can blame such a talented batsman who is trying to settle in international cricket for losing it for us.
Guest Hiten. Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 It;s harsh to say Y Pathan is useless. He played one game. He out bowled H Singh in the game against Pakistan. You can't expect him to come on and get the runs when we require more then a run a ball. He cant even settle in. That is the concern. Pathan is picked for his power hitting abilities and for him to start going ballistic, he'll have to have himself settled in. Run a ball target is really not a big ask as shown by Yuvraj-Dhoni partnerships against Pakistan in pakistan (2006). Moreover, batting powerplay was in our hand and RSD on other hand was well settled. You have to rotate strike to ease of the pressure and not try to whack it to get out of the blocks.
riya Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Nehra's form is temporary,he has always been like this.Never consistent. And I have always maintained that Ishant shouldn't play ODIs or T20s.He should be used in tests only.YP should only play T20s.
gs Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Positives - Raina, Gambhir, Mishra Negatives - IS, YKP, RPS and rest of the pie chuckers
zub2006 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Y Pathan should be given a chance. The PPlay should of been taking straight when he came in. Saying that it should of been taken earlier. We know the batting ability he has and like i said again he outbowled our number 1 spin bowler. Ishant just is not a ODI or T20 bowler. Its Test or nothing for him
Ram Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I really do hope the Kohli’s performance against the Windies match acts as a springboard for him to achieve greater things. He seems to have the ability that is so vitally important to ODI batting – the art of rotating the strike without being bogged down.
Jabu Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Any way, its good that no one talking abt SreeshantB->
Jabu Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 YP is useless' date=' should be beyond any doubt by now.[/quote'] Not good to say useless ...:winky:
The_beast Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 You have learned that bhaji is just rubbish and should look for a younger replacement.

I would kinda compare him to Debashish Mohanty (used by Dada) - great bowler at the start of the innings but not so much at the end. Also, he needs to try to add reverse swing to his arsenal.

rkt.india Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 dhoni must start bowling regularly and work on his runup and action to fine tune it he ca bowl really quick if he wants to bowl
rkt.india Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I agree to some extent to most of the points. But at the same time, I would not trust Virat or Nehra just on the basis of a few games. They have proved in the past too that they are inconsistent and so I will wait for sometime. Nehra seems a lot better and can be relied for sometime but I would not say Virat is the perfect choice. I find him a bit over rated a bit and he needs to improve a lot before he can make a permanent place in the Indian team. I think Rohit and Jadeja are better contenders than him maybe keeping in mind their all rounder capabilities. Kohli has to improve his SR before he can make into the team. He has got a SR of less than 70 ever since he came into the team. But for ODIs we need somebody who can maintain a SR of at least 90 consistently. If I negate the strike rate, then I will opt for Jadeja instead because his temperament is better and he has hardly been given any chances in ODI. Moreover, Jadeja is a lot better with the ball and at least 5-8 overs can be easily extracted from him. Both are of almost the same age and were in the same U-19 team and so age also does not make difference. Regarding Nayar he is not fit for bowling in ODIs. If we need as an all rounder then Praveen/Irfan are lot better. Dhoni's bowling was good for a start and hope he improves his batting though I dont want him to take much pressure of batting, bowling, wicketkeeping etc. Mishra is surely a good find and if needed he and Ojha can even give tough competition to Bhajji in the future. kohli played all his games in tough conditions. If he was trying play aggressively and got out, then too u would have said same. People will never be happy...he has the technique to bat at 3. He showed it while facing Roach at 150 ks

Kohli played 5 of his ODIs in the Sri Lanka series where everyone ended up with low averages and strike rates. He was one of the better performers in the series. He has played 3 ODIs since then - failed once, not out twice. Moreover, how many ODI players have a SR of greater than 90 anyways that you are setting such standards for Kohli?
champ Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 our boys will get more rest when others are sweating it out in the semis..that's a positive for us :hysterical:
