I would rate VVS ahead of Virender Sehwag. Sehwag IMO needs to step up his game a bit more in the 2nd innings of a Test Match. I am not trying to demean his efforts by any mean but he has more or less transformed into a player who gets you off to fliers but in the 2nd innings is found wanting a bit. And I intend to include even the 3rd innings of the Test matches as well. I think Sehwag has not been at his belligerent best in India's 2nd innings. I think he has scored very few telling innings in them.

Thongale..possibly, but...

The issue with Vengsarkar is that the only centuries he scored overseas are those 3 hundreds at Lords. The rest of his tons- 14 I think- came at home. Bit of an home pitch bully. His ave away from home is very poor compared to his career one- think its about 32. Id rate Laxman Vijay Hazare Gundappa Vishawanath Mohinder Amarnath All ahead. Possibly even Azhar and Ganguly too

I dont bother with the order, as all are equally great Some would say Gavaskar is the best, some Sachin and some Dravid But this would be my All-time top5 batting order Sehwag Gavaskar Dravid Sachin Laxman

The top 4 is locked down. Well batted laxy but not in contention at all for top 4 batters. Amazing how easy people forget the brilliance of Dravid and how brilliant he was a few years back. Laxman is no way better the Dravid. Stick to wether Laxy is 5th best

^Yep. All that remains to be seen is whether Sehwag can end up being 2nd or 3rd greatest' date=' if he hasnt already i.e :D[/quote'] At the moment I would still have him at 4th. 1. God 2. Sunnny 3. Rahul 4. Veeru 5. So many contenders

GAvaskar, Sehwag, Dravid and Tendulkar seperate themselves from the rest. The #5 is pretty tough to pick considering how we have managed to come up with quality batsmen over the years. But to name a few contenders for #5 spot: CK Naydu, Merchant, Hazare, Vishwanath, Amarnath, VVS

I vote for Laxman over late-career heroics. His average went up from 43 to 47 in the last 2/3 ys I think.
