I was doing a summer project at Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Pune and she was also staying there for 2-3 months for her Narmada movement. It's a pretty small place and you invariably end up sharing tables with everyone over lunch and dinner over some time. Her writings are completely nutcasish now, but at least back then she was quite sincere and serious about the Narmada thing. She had contacted some top scientists for their opinion in addition to the lobbying she was doing and was well armed with facts etc. Of course, most of the conversations were just casual table talk but she was definitely bright and very articulate. I would like to ask her a few questions myself if I meet her now after each subsequent article she writes explores new substances of garbage. :eyedance:

He was at Berkeley and though I never took any course with him or worked with him on any project, but used to meet him often during seminars etc. He hadn't got the Nobel till then and the day of the announcement each year everyone used to look around for hints because it was a given that he will get it, the only question was which year.

Inside, it was filled with antiques, paintings and other memorabilia belonging to royalty. Looking after the place were at least half a dozen butlers / maids. Slightly akward to have someone, old enough to be my father, address me as "Sir" I also met Barry Grear, boss of all bosses, president of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, a professional engineering body encompassing some 90 countries and containing a membership base of some 8 million engineers worldwide.
