The Dark Horse
We badly miss Kumble:(( In tests, he always maintained pressure at one end while Bhajji and others got wickets at the other end. Also had the knack of cleaning up the tail, which is not happening happening these days. Link to comment
Chandan
Oh we really do. How I wish we had Kumble playing today. He would certainly have given us 2 more wickets. Link to comment
Lord
yes he is irreplaceable.but we got to move on. we cant keep harping on the pst.the new guys have to step up.Bhajji got to do better Link to comment
Ram
Kumble's exploits spoilt us all, so much so that for anyone who has been watching cricket since the mid 90s, it only natural that we expect our spinners to absolute dominate opposition batsmen. Maybe, its time we reconcile ourselves to the fact that our spinners are no longer capable of running through opposition sides at home. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Even jumbo would have struggled here on day 1 here, doubt he would have had much effect yesterday. Jumbo was a legend but no doubt at home he had some of the best spinner wickets anyone could dream of in 90s. But even in 2000s he was not as potent at home again and frankly this was due to wickets at home changing Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Let us not over-react like padosis. We'll try to win with what we have. Kumble didn't do that well against SA last time. Link to comment
zen
In the last series, Jumbo was on a decline. In fact, Ind won both its tests against Aus when he was not in the playing 11. I think he retired at the right time when ppl asked why and not why not But he will always be missed as players like him are irreplaceable. Sri is being missed too but we have to move on! Unlike Bhajji, who was bowling slow and loopy at Kanpur last time vs. SA, and bowling darts everywhere else. :wall: And yes, Kumble is infinitely (and I repeat, infinitely) better than what Harbhajan can ever hope to be. For one, he never got defensive even if the batsman attacked him. Link to comment
yoda
We totally do miss him. Well big shot Harby is supposed to take leadership now, instead he is sucking ass. Link to comment

Once Dravid, SRT and Laxman quit, we won't even have batsmen who can bat for a test win at home...... Link to comment
vvvslaxman
I think pitches don't offer as much turn as it used to offer. Having said that in the England/India test series, i found Swann bowling better than Bhajji for the simple reason Swann gave lot of flight to each and every ball while Harbhajan was bowling at 90 clicks each and every ball. Ranjha
When jumbo used to bowl in India, we had turning wickets. Pitches have changed and so have the time. Kumble wouldn't have done much different. Everyone used to curse Kumble in the 90s I remember especially in odis and overseas. Its only in the last year or 2 of his career that he gained respect he deserved. Harbhajan is not bad if you look at his performances in the last few years. He always come back after a bad game.
