Watson87
Steyn was even makinig God look like a duck, so we hardly care about Saha. Against South African attack he has no chance but against BD and Srilanka he can be our Boucher. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Yea, cant really fault the poor dude. But whoever chose to pick him instead of Karthik/Parthiv needs to have his head examined. He might yet be a good batsmen, but being a total newcomer to intnl. cricket, he has almost no chance of surviving against guys like Steyn/Morkel and their reverse-swing skills. And yet Srikkanth and the present band of idiots attract barely a fraction of the brickbats that Vengsarkar and co. did. One of the finest own-goals in Indian cricket, with injured players being picked based on assumptions, and unproven keepers and excess quicks being selected to fill up a squad because the selection committee is lazy and thoughtless. Saha is just the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. Link to comment
Freedom
why is it fair not to even expect 20-35 runs from him? He has been selected in the test team only to play and score for his country. Well if he didnt expect this coming at him.... why would he even bother making himself available for selection? All excuses for not performing. I hope he truns it around and scores a useful 30 runs atleast in the second innings Link to comment
Desi Cartman
For some reason MSD doesnt keep even if there is another keeper in the playing XI. He does that in T20s, ODIs and now even tests. I dont understand why he couldnt play as a specialist batsman and remain a little fresh for batting higher in the order. Also we dont want MSD to injure another finger of his or his back at this stage. Link to comment
flamy
Saha sucks. End of. He is lucky to be in the 11. The fault is with the selectors for selecting him, but for sure he is not for the big stage. Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
So what some of you are saying that in addition to having half our batsmen injured, we should also make a rookie keep even when the best keeper in the country is in the squad. Dhoni is probably a better keeper than Saha. There was no reason to further weaken the side by making him keep over Dhoni. Link to comment

This was a monumental eff-up by the Selection committee, but no one could have predicted the last minute injury to Rohit. Either ways, this committee has done quite well and that reflects in our performance. Beyond the normal matters of selection, what is most admirable is the way they handled the retirements of Ganguly and Kumble. Both those players were allowed to bow out with grace and went out on their own terms. That is not something you see often in the subcontinent. Link to comment
The Dark Horse
Poor guy. Hopefully he'll work on his game. Link to comment

Dhoni is probably a better keeper than Saha. There was no reason to further weaken the side by making him keep over Dhoni. What we are saying is that a wicket keeper shouldn't be selected as specialist batsmen against such high profile opposition. If they wanted to select him. he should've been asked to keep. Lets not make the assumption that who is the best keeper here as nobody knows what saha is capable of. He should've at least been given a chance to show what he is capable of with his primary skills. Now what he fared badly in batting, he would be sidelined forever and his international career is almost destroyed unless he scores a big one in second innings. Link to comment

Selection goof up and nofit nohit sharma injury was the reason he played. So its not his fault or Dhoni to have selected him as he is just a passenger. Dhoni is clearly the better keeper compared to Karthik and P Patel, so it is a fair assumption that Dhoni is the best keeper in the country. Never said Saha is a bad keeper, he might even be better but that doesnt mean we have to drop Dhoni from keeping just so Saha can show his keeping. Ideally, Saha wouldnt have played if Dhoni was playing. Link to comment
diegovegaz
feel very sorry for him if the selection mess was not enough, look at the situation he has been asked to bat in Link to comment

Texy
very well played by Saha...he hung on for 100 balls....more than other established batsmen Link to comment
vvvslaxman
yea, gritty innings. Kudos . Still not a test material though. Atleast he didn't disgrace himself. Link to comment
kabira
Wicket keepers have in built grit and determination. He knows he may not play another test. But still good effort. Link to comment

achilles
Saha, Badri & Sachin were the only batsmen who showed some fight in the match, along with Vijay and MS. If the selectors and team management actually have a brain, they'll give him and Badri another chance coz Saha did waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Rohit Sharma did against Steyn & Co. :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment

Lord
poor election, but Saha didnt help his case either.he had nothing to lose n could have cemented his place as a reserve keeper woith a fine knock, but instead played meekly.i doubt he'll get another test in a while Link to comment
