If the premise is that "India is well accepted as the number 1 team in the world" and then they struggle to beat the number 4 team, yeah what you state is true. Unfortunately the premise is that "Aus/SA are the real number 1 and India doesnt deserve to be No1" based on that yeah India just proved they are better than Aus, capiche?

Yes, If the opposition team can see off Zak with the new ball and the old ball, dismiss Sehwag early, get rid of Gambhir before he settles in, removes the all-star middle order of Sachin, Dravid and VVS and somehow negate the controlled spin bowling of Bhajji and his spin bowling partner, of course, our team is a piece of cake in the opposition. Duh! Dude, there are only so many pieces to a cricket team. You cannot single out someone and say ‘If he doesn’t perform, we’re screwed!’ It doesn’t work that way man. Plus, this aint T20/ODI cricket. We don’t have to be outstanding in the field, just reliable. And please, you should know better than to use a broad stroke to paint our bowling attack as ‘bad’ using a single brush, given the numerous wins they have led us, with lots of help from their batsmen friends I admit. Marris - I am not one to undermine any credit that our team has earned. And I am glad you understand that. Our batting is world beating. That is a given. Just take a look at our bowling. We dont want just control from Harbhajan. We want wickets. He has been less than overwhelming for quite some time now. I am sure you agree. And apart from Zaheer Khan, we really do not have anybody to stand up and bowl pace tellingly. This too has been the case for a significant amount of time. We need to get all this up there if we want to be known as undisputed world beaters. That is all. I never said that our bowling attack is 'bad' in my earlier post. But if you give me a choice of facing the attacks of England/Pakistan/South Africa on one hand and give me the option of facing India, it is obvious which one would be picked. We need to get it up there. That is all I am saying.

When Australia was the all conquering team, there were many times they would falter mid-way. Haek, they have done that against Bangladesh. But what made Aussies so deadly was someone always stood up during that time and snatched victory. That was the Aussie aura. They would be 5-6 down for almost nothing and then the tail would fight back. the opposition would score heavily and then they would produce some magic balls. Aussies were invincible not because they were never run close. They were run close multiple times. But always, in pressure situtaions, it was they who came on top and opposition who faltered. Very good point. You are talking of something different. Australia's know-how to finish a match. That is part of what is called a 'winning habit'. If India demonstrates that they have this skill and do this repeatedly, then what you say will be true.

Did you watch the Australia's second innings ? Just wondering ...because Zak took out #8,9,10 ..and the team was all out for less than 200 Did you get a chance to watch recent SL's tour of INdia where Sreesanth was the destroyer ? You keep whining about India's bowling, and before every series, you have the same old "can't see them taking 20/40/60 wickets" ..and they end up taking all those wickets..

India's bowling is underwhelming. And I have explained why I say so more than once earlier. And yes I watched Australia's 1st innings as well as the 2nd innings.

If you’re telling me that you’re not worried about a batting line-up that has Smith, Kallis, Amla, AB De Villers and Prince, then I am not sure how to respond. The mere fact that South Africa is the ONLY team in the last 5 years to draw a test match series in India, a feat they managed not once, but TWICE, should tell you how formidable they’re. And on both those occasions, we actually trailed 0-1 to level the series. If that is how competitive they’re in our own backyard, imagine how much more difficult it would be to put one past them in their own territory. An Indian side, with the current batting and bowling riches, coupled with the ruthlessness and professionalism of an Aussie side might well challenge the Saffies, but as we stand today, we are still a long distance away from a series victory over there.

Smith , AB , Prince(seriously ?) & Amla , none of them have good techniques , there is no argument there ..They have done well in India , agreed credit to them ..but its more to do with most of their batsmen being very good against spinners & Steyn than anything else ..Like I said , steyn can win them a match but if ur batsmen can handle him , I can see Zaheer and co exploiting their weakness against good swing blowing .

Give the credit where its due SA had the best of conditions and toss. It was the Indian bowling unit which did a magnificent job, unlike SA relaxing as you say and oh yeah, the very very special man who made that critical difference and why should we keep proving and to whom This team has proven enough, imo
