Ram Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Yeah mate i agree irfan should be vocal about his continuos omission from the National colours,, Thalla sonna correcta than irukum..B-> Yaruppa thala? :hmmm:
Ram Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 i feel its Dhoni himself.remember how he fought wen Irfan was favoured over RP even though RP was bowling terribly? agree about the second part.he needs to get into media attention n ask question of selectors through media.atleast wen the next time our esteemed pace battery of Sree n co. leak runs, the media will ask questions Could be. Its interesting to note that Irfan has slowly faded from the national scene from the time Dhoni took over the captaincy. Irfan needs a few things to go his way if he has to make his way back into the side. No1, he has to make his mark in the FC scene, with maybe a couple of 5 wicket hauls and lotsa runs. That might be hard, given that the season is probably come to an end. He also needs some luck.. Say a couple of pacers out injured at the same time and maybe handful of losses for the team (not that you'd actually wish that on any Indian team...) Its a bit embarrassing for Irfan that you have Sreesanth, arguably the worst ODI ever bowler ever, A rookie in Tyagi and a total newbie like Mithun actually playing a match for India while he cannot even find a spot in the top 30 cricketers of the country.
Lord Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Irfan needs to meet Mr. Ian Pont he'll go missing:haha:
punjabi_khota Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 and the award for the most underwhelming headline goes to...

The Dark Horse Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I am sure Irfan can bat as well as Yusuf and bowl better than him.
riya Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 then someone will get injured :winky: IIRC, sehwag also made it to some tour like tat? :dontknow: In the morning after thinking about facing Steyna and co,no chance otherwise :winky:

He is definitely worth a punt over Sreesanth any day in this format of the game.

I don't think bowling should be taken lightly in any format but yeah as an all-rounder (not specialist as then his bowling quality gets more weightage), IP's inclusion makes sense. What I was implying that even in tests, he isn't a bad option :winky:

Fontaine Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Pathan has been given chance after chance and each time he's come back he's looked average to pretty bad. I'm not surprised he's been left out. I'll be surprised if he actually bowls well in the IPL.
vvvslaxman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I thought his injury was serious .. if he will be fit in a couple of weeks and is playing in IPL then he should also have been selected in the 30 probables for sure .. it is unfair if he is left out without valid reason Exactly. Three years back he was our man of the match in T20 final. Now he is out. Not long ago he scripted a win along with his brother in T20 game against Sl. It is ridiculous.

I'll be surprised if he actually bowls well in the IPL. If you see a huge gap between Pathan and the Ishants, Praveens, Sreesanths i would agree to that. Infact Irfan has never been this terrible overall as ap layer like these guys. Atleast he would do something with bat. He was not a horrible fielder like these guys.

Praveen routinely takes wickets with the new ball and at least can bowl accurately, to field plans and move the ball and stick to his strengths. Sree, I agree should not be picked ahead of Pathan. But the problem is that not only does Pathan bowl poorly but routinely the captain can't set fields for his bowling because the last time he was bowling against SL/NZ he would spray the ball all over the place. Pathan doesn't deserve a selection based on merit but because other bowlers like Sree suck and you can't really make a case based on that. But let's see. If he really has improved and gained some consistency then we'll see in the IPL. I'm sure if he really shines (like Nehra did in the IPL and then got selected) in the IPL then he'll find a way into the team. If not then no big loss.

Unfortunately every snigle bowler in India suck in Indian conditions when they are up against top teams. Even Zak goes for runs. In helpful conditions Irfan can be as good as anyone else. So you have to take the punt that he will come good. Atleast use him as a bits and pieces player if not genuine bowler. Invariably our fast bowlers are also the worst fielders in the team. Basically they bring nothing to the team. Irfan is definitely a better fielder. Only Agarkar and Irfan are the decent fielders among fast bowlers. You have to say he is a match winner on his day. You cannot say that about others. Irfan helped INdia win test at perth, helped India win at T20 final, helped bash the minnows to oblivion.
ViruRulez Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Exactly. Three years back he was our man of the match in T20 final. Now he is out. Not long ago he scripted a win along with his brother in T20 game against Sl. It is ridiculous. That is what I am saying .. if will be fit then he is India's top 15 T20 players at least if not in the final 11 .. even if you take all forms of the game including tests he still deserves to be in the 30 probables .. it is not possible that he is not in India's top 30 players .. leave apart T20 if it was a 100 days long format yet he would be in top 30 at least .. he is undoubtedly within our top 3 all rounders if not the best and within our top 7-10 bowlers at least in any format .. I dont see any justified reason why he would not be in a 30 probables list if he can play .. he performed well in the Ranjis and was the highest run getter as well as wicket taker for them in Ranjis if I am not incorrect .. so there is no justified reason to leave him out except if he is completely injured and wont be fit till WC T20 .. but if he is playing in IPL then he would surely be fit
vvvslaxman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Guys like Irfan, Piyush, KKD have some spark about them something you cannot ignore. They provide life to the team overall instead of lethargically standing and grinning like Munaf, Nehra do.
