zen
To make things easier and not consider factors like NRR too much, let's assume that a team with 8 wins will go through. Below is the points table as of today: Teams Mat Won Lost Tied N/R Pts Net RR Mumbai 5 4 1 0 0 8 +1.167 Bangalore 6 4 2 0 0 8 +0.961 Rajasthan 6 3 3 0 0 6 -0.017 Deccan 5 3 2 0 0 6 -0.031 Delhi 6 3 3 0 0 6 -0.618 Chennai 6 2 4 0 0 4 -0.079 Kolkata 5 2 3 0 0 4 -0.851 Punjab 5 1 4 0 0 2 -0.533 * Top three IPL teams will qualify for Champions League Based on that, below table (based on the criteria defined above) shows how many games a team has to win from remaining ones to get through to the semis: Team - Games on hand - Wins needed to reach 8 wins - % 1. HowardRoark
MI and RCB are almost in. Other slots are very much open to all others. Contrary to what people think, I dont think DC has in it to be a sure shot semifinalist. They are too reliant on Gilly and collapse once he goes. zen
Who is your Math teacher? If you are talking abt the last column then it the percentage of games a team can afford to lose. It a little easier that way as usually more is seen as better when just browsing the stats. If I had the percent of wins needed then less would have been better but it doesn't look that great when someone is just browsing, for eg. 55 (as best) followed by 50 looks better than 45 (as best) followed by 50, imo

My bad. It wasnt very clear. I think the competition is mostly between the top 6 teams in the table right now with MI & BRC looking safe. CSK also has an outside of getting onto the 4th spot. Though, I will liek to see the four teams I just mentioned a few posts back in the semis.
zubinpepsi
for what i have seen so far..I would rate the following teams 1.Mumabi Indians ( winners) 2. Royal Challengers Bangalore ( runners) 3. Delhi Daredevils ( 3rd place) 4. Deccan Chargers (4th place) the other teams are all too much dependent on one man in their team.... I dont see them getting into the semis.. DC/CSK/RR are all equally bad. DC depends heavily on either Gilly or Symonds to fire. If not, they choke big time. Chennai on Hayden/Raina - today Vijay thankfully stepped in. RR have just one bat period in YP.

cowboysfan
i knew the flat track bullies in the CSK team would fire on the chennai pitch, their whole team is built to win on flat pitches and yet they somehow lost 4 games there preceding this one.
