rkt.india Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I meant there will be some players who will know themselves they are not good enough for test cricket and because of IPL they will not push themselves and be contend playing IPL and domestic cricket... but IPL won't make any of them good, very good, or a great player...if they just want to earn money than IPL is for them but i don't know if any player will play cricket just for money and would not want his name in good to great cricketers list and for that they will have to play well and work hard on their game and perform well and if they do that they will automatically get money and fame like Gautam Gambhir and ZAK did who worked hard on their after starting failures in international cricket

IPL as a stepping stone to tests Good luck man. that line cracked me up :haha: Sounds ironic that IPL is a precursor to tests nowdays. :giggle: But the guy has talent and hope that he can hone it. We hardly have any domestic talent coming out and so cannot neglect even a single bowler. A decade ago we were producing at least formidable fast bowlers nearly every year but nowadays we have to a lot of problem even to find a single pacer.

The Vidarbha pacer, who was in the Indian Test squad earlier this year, hasn't been in contention for quite a while. However, he knows that the hard work is the only way to get back in the team. The Emerging Tour in Australia will provide perfect opportunity for Yadav to show his mettle. If he does well Down Under, he may be back in the reckoning considering the amount of injuries that Indian pacers have been suffering of late. "I am looking forward to do well in this tour. I bowled well last year here but didn't get too many wickets. Now, I have a fair idea about the conditions. Playing for the country is my ultimate goal but to be in the squad of the best team in the world, I need to raise the bar," Yadav told TOI before leaving for Australia. Many Indian pacers have dropped down a few yards of pace for accuracy, but Yadav is not ready to compromise on his speed. "Pace has become my identity. Even Eric Simmons (India's bowling coach, who is also Delhi Daredevils coach in IPL) has advised me not to cut down my pace. I am following his advice. Hopefully things will come my way in Australia," he said. The 23-year-old pacer was the one of the costliest Indian players during the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League but couldn't live up to the expectations. Injuries also didn't help his cause but having regained his full fitness, Yadav is now raring to go. "I was obviously disappointed with my performances in the last few months. I could have done better in the IPL, but ups and downs are part and parcel of the game. It's not easy when you are in a team which has seven fast bowlers. One bad match and you are out. But I am not complaining," Yadav, who plays for Delhi Daredevils, said. The off season work with Vidarbha Cricket Association's bowling coach and ex-India pacer Subroto Bannerjee has also did a world of good for Yadav, who feels he is getting his rhythm back. "It was good to spend some time with Subbu sir. I had some landing problem which he sorted out. He hasn't changed my action but corrected it and I am feeling better now. The ball is also coming out well out of my hand. I am just waiting for the matches. It's good that we also have days cricket in Australia. Longer spells there will certainly help me," he said. Bannerjee, who was based at Sydney for eight years, feels Yadav will soon be back to his best. "It's very rare to see a bowler in India who bowls consistently at 140km/hr. We should preserve these kinds of bowlers and utilise them properly. He is mentally and physically very strong. What I like about Umesh is he doesn't feel low even after getting hit. He shouldn't get carried away with the conditions in Australia. Instead bowl on the right areas besides using short balls as a surprise weapon. If he does that, he will surely be successful," Bannerjee said.

They are all fairly skillful bowlers but they would be considered trundlers on this forum (not entirely sure about Aravind as i think he occasionally bowls at 130 kph)

Aravind is good with his variations and can also be useful due to his awkward angle.
