satyam1729 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Agreed he did not pick a good team. But we don't have a single world class fast bowler in our team. And with no proper batsman we were always going to loose. What can captain do when you have such a stupid team.
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Dhoni is a superb captain. One of the best out there infact, for multiple reasons. T20 is basically a chance game and I regard it as a Fun game ;) And with no proper batsman we were always going to loose That`s an overstatement lol:cantstop:
zen Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Gary should be bashed too :P It's mainly for poor team selection, poor general strategy and tactics .... More importantly, it's for not learning from his mistakes Only thing he is probably being unfairly criticized for his for opting to field. I would have put WI in too with hints of moisture in the pitch. But if that was his 'game plan', he should have selected an extra seamer (Yadav). Also after seeing that Jadeja and Zak weren't at the top of their games, he should have taken them out of his plans. Also Karthik, who has a good record against WI and in WI (If I recall correctly) was ignored
thevortex Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Ashish Nehra strove manfully for us today. I think it is unfair to say that we dont have a fast bowler worthy of world standing. Not when Zaheer Khan too is there and playing for us. Zaheer has not been bowling well - that is all. And Dhoni is reluctant to pick somebody like Vinay Kumar. The question has to be asked - why pick him in the team if the captain is reluctant to trust the guy even on wickets which assist pace bowling?? The bigger question is - why is Dhoni reluctant to pick fast bowlers even on wickets which assist fast bowling?

Lord Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Vinay kumar would have been thrashed on this pitch. how do u know?give him a chance.infact as i type Mathews,a similar bowler is ripping into Aussies
Lord Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 @ OP- if Dhoni repeats the same mistake n picks the same that got thrashed, what do u expect?
satyam1729 Posted May 9, 2010 Author Posted May 9, 2010 how do u know?give him a chance.infact as i type Mathews' date='a similar bowler is ripping into Aussies[/quote'] Picking him instead of Jadeja. But Mathews is a proved bowler. He bowled well last year too.
ViruRulez Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Dhoni made terrible mistakes in the Aussie game and repeated it again today and so I am more pissed off. His team selection and captaincy has been pathetic in the last two games to say the least .. why would you try to chase in two consecutive games after winning the toss in such bouncy tracks .. he created pressure on the team even after knowing our weaknesses .. so that is pathetic .. anyways I dont see the awesome captain Dhoni nowadays
thevortex Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 how do u know?give him a chance.infact as i type Mathews' date='a similar bowler is ripping into Aussies[/quote'] Precisely!
coffee_rules Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 If we faltered at the chase just the previous match, he is stupid enough to try it again this match too. He is pig-headed, that's what he is.
Ramzz Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 He is just too stubborn to admit and learn from his mistakes. Team selection and him opting to field is the biggest blunder
zen Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 After looking at SL perfo against Aus, it appears as if Ind missed a serious opportunity by losing to WI. Now those blunders look even bigger!
The Realist Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Dhoni is becoming too stubborn to be rated as a good captain. Always thinks ke knows best yet makes schoolboy errors in team selection and tactics. This is the 3rd consecutive international tournament that India have crashed out of early and all have characterised with Dhoni poor decisions. The responsibility rests with him. Continous defeats are inevitably making people question his methods. Either he steps up or steps down.
CSK Fan Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Only thing he is probably being unfairly criticized for his for opting to field. I would have put WI in too with hints of moisture in the pitch. Only 4 matches in this WC have been won by team batting second(Out of 20). out of that one was india against Afghanistan and one was WI winning against England becuase of duckworth Lewis. So abtting first almost gaurantees you success

So abtting first almost gaurantees you success Those are nice stats and in hindsight, I would say Ind could have batted first as the pitch didn't do much But when you go out for toss knowing it rained y'day, the outfield could be soggy, there could be moisture in the pitch, a captain would do what Dhoni did because as the game progresses the pitch eases out, the outfield becomes quicker .... You can't be basing your decision on stats alone :winky: I think where we lost out was in team selection. We should have had 3 seamers and should have played Karthik, who has a good record against WI and in WI

We should have had 3 seamers and should have played Karthik, who has a good record against WI and in WI 20% (Actually 10% if you disocount those those matches) is not just stats. Its a certainity. Regardless of the strength of both the teams, teams batting first have won 90% of time. Ergo its almost impossible to chase on the West indies pitches.
asterix Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 If not 3 seamers, atleast should've included Chawla inplace of that sucking Bhikhari Jadeja..Chawla can bat better than that Bhikhari and ofcourse could've troubled the WI batsmen..Had also not gone for 26 runs in 2 overs.. I mean WTF? What's this Dhobi's love for that Bhikhari who hasn't even tested in recent IPL and comes in to fecking spoil the T20 WC party? I'm so angry at Dhobi..
