MSD won toss and bats first. It's a no-brainer after 2 losses. The saying is once bitter twice shy and not twice bitten thrice shy. Our best bet for the bowlers to be effective is to bowl the oppostion under pressure of runs. If batsmen click, (hoping they do), No vijay to muck it up, there is a better chance for our bowlers to click.

Interesting stat, but like I said on the other thread: Aus beat all the four test playing teams from the sub-continent in this tourney till date by batting first. Would BD beaten Aus, if it had batted first? If the answer to that question is 'no' and/or 'may be', we can probably say that this piece of stats is interesting but it doesn't guarantee the result. The bottom line: You have to judge the conditions and also do what suits your team more. And ofc, you have to play well too on the day.

missing the point. as a strategist , you put yourself in a position where you can take advantage(by setting a steep target). That's what it is all about. chasing over 160 or 180 is not easy.a steep asking rate is the best way to make batsmen commit mistakes. it means the opposition has overcome a disadvantage. but they won't more often than not.
