1. Yuvraj should come one down and be given the license to play his natural game and go for the shots right away. Whats the point of a player like him if you bring him in to bat at 30/3. There are other players who can consolidate. We need to score big tomm and let him bat without pressure and score runs or get out. Not liek we are getting anything out of him right now. OR 2. He should be dropped. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Rohit Sharma or Karitk to open instead of Vijay. ------------------------------------------------------ 4. Why would you hide your hitters in Raina, Yuvi, Dhoni and Pathan at the bottom? Shouldnt your best batsmen atleast based on their abilitiy (not necessarily form) bat higher up the order..This is T20 , not tests. You want the hitters to face many balls without being under the pressure of 30/3 and score as much as possible. Maybe I am missing something.

When did Yuvraj last open in T20 international, if at all? Yusuf is the kind of batsman who is more useful against the spinners and not fast bowlers.

The problem is Indian doesn't have a pinchitter in the opening pair like Sehwag. Gambhir/Vijay/DK can easily be intimidated with short pitch balls and they will go in the shell and waste the balls. When was the last time Indian opening scored a 50 partnership with 5 overs?

That's exactly the reason I would liek Yuvraj to bat at #3. Either he will change the game for you or just get out like he is being doing at #5...He wont bat freely when he comes in at #5 at 30-3. Get the hitters out right away. No point of hiding them in T20. and yes, you are right..we are definately missing veeru here. But I cant think of anyone else opening other than out of these 4: gambhir, rohit, karthik, vijay...Vijay, I think should be dropped for tommoros game atleast.

Its a fairly good chance for India with no Murali and no bowler with real pace PLUS bouncers. Malinga's action makes it difficult for him to make them come up sharply on a consistent basis. India HAVE to bat first. The first six overs are critical. If we do not lose a wicket and manage around 8 (7 is not a disaster) an over, it is a great start. Hence we need an opening pair that wont throw it away with 'Afridi-mania'. We need people who will find the gaps and run well between the wickets. With fielders up there are plenty of chances to hit boundaries and run two's and threes. If we manage this kind of a start we then need to have one of the openers to decide to stay put at one end as long as he can and let the others play around him. I think Dinesh Karthik is a good bet to open as long as he is told not to try his cute and/or "jack-in-the-box' innovations. His normal game is enterprising enough. The worry for me is Gambhir. He is in a bad rut. He runs out in a predetermined fashion which is a sign of a player unsure of himself and covering it with bluster. If he stays in the crease he and Karthik can give us the start we need. If Gambhir is the one given the job of playing the long innings then who comes next should depend upon which of the two openers gets out. If it is Karthik, bring in another stroke player, maybe Raina. If Gambhir goes, get someone who will play the role of anchor at three. In this case, Dhoni is the best choice. He has the best temprament and has the most at stake. Plus he is a very good runner. Then if he plays till the end, the rest of the batting order can be flexible. I do not have much confidence in Yuvraj as of today (although one hopes he springs a pleasant surprise) and it is okay for Yuvi to be played later in the innings with a mandate to go for it. If Dhoni goes early at number three, he must be replaced by Rohit again with the same mandate. If we have Gambhir/Dhoni/Rohit (one at a time) at one end then Karthik, Raina, Yuvi' Pathan' Vijay can play their cameos. It is ridiculous to expect anything but a surprise bonus from Harbhajan's bat. My biggest criticism of Dhoni is the seriousness with which he views Harbhajan's antiques at the wicket. They are going to work so rarely (hope today they arent even needed) that to bring him up and change the bating order smacks of naiveté and worse.

Hasn't batted at 3 either. With a sluggish pitch, his best chance to get set for the assault on spinners is to come as an opener, set himself up against the pacers in first few overs and when spinners come go for all out attack. Imagine him walking into a situation with spinners bowling from both ends. On a sluggish pitch he might struggle (may blaze away as well).

• On the other hand, of the 9 bowlers who have bowled more than 2 overs for Sri Lanka in the WC eight have an economy rate between 5.0 and 8.33 (the last figure being that of the redoubtable Malinga)
• fielding is bordering on the pathetic
