Texan Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 As a fringe player, he should be willing to bat anywhere. After giving catching practice to slip few balls ago (which was dropped), he feathered a catch to the keeper. He didn't look comfortable throughout the innings and has a technique suited to Indian wickets like Badri. Doubtful if he will succeed anywhere else. But yes, deserves another chance in the 5th ODI

ganeshran Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Didnt play too badly today. But was trying too hard for the shots, sometimes shuffling across in the process.
WC2011INDIA Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Didnt play too badly today. But was trying too hard for the shots' date=' sometimes shuffling across in the process.[/quote'] He is in the T20 mode... needs to get more opportunities though.
rajmarie Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Didnt play too badly today. Hoping now his good runs start...& he can cement his place in the XI
ganeshran Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 He is a decent fielder too. Lets see how he does in the future.
saneindian Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Will most likely lose his spot once Rohit comes back to the squad. He didn't use his chances in WI. May have to score truckloads of runs in the domestic cricket to retain his place for the WI ODIs.
Sachinism Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Imagine a team of Raina, Virat, Rohit, Jadeja, Yuvi, Rahane, Tiwary in the field :woot:
King Tendulkar Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 He looks more suited to coming at 6 or 5
The Dark Horse Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 He's a very good fielder, I'm not sure how good a batsman he is though

So a good player who never get decent chance in the team will be replaced by someone who have failed after getting decent time in the team.

I would say he was playing well today, just got out at the wrong time, had hit some good shot on Meaker and Finn for 4.
Pagalpanti Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Played decently under pressure. Was expecting him to score a 50 at least, but surely if he is given consistent opportunity he might turn out to be a very good player, excellent fielder as well.
The Dark Horse Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 At least he has got an ODI wicket to his name
MCcricket Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 A few years back I saw him play in a domestic game playing Zaheer who was bowling very well, the confidence and the strokes that he played made me wanna see him in blue colours.I think he was a bit young and a bit carried away, lets give him a run.Ishank Jaggi also seems to have the talent, he played some outlandish strokes, wristy , reminded me of Laxman but aggressive, also plays on the off side
ganeshran Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 His bowling was seriously poor today. Got wickets because the English have no clue on how to play spin.
MCcricket Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 His bowling was seriously poor today. Got wickets because the English have no clue on how to play spin. He is a batsmen not a bowler or alrounder, what ever he did was a bonus, giving us a wicket

Haha true, some of the balls were so poor even I could've hit them :giggle:. Absolute dollies. Lucky to get a wicket, but he is a part-timer.. so lets not be harsh about his bowling. He's in the side for his batting and fielding.
sarcastic Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 So a good player who never get decent chance in the team will be replaced by someone who have failed after getting decent time in the team. RGSharma is a "very highly Naturally-Gifted" player and hence despite his not utilizing chances early in his career he deserved that long run. However, if Rohit fails again in one or two consecutive series, it will be hard for him to get back in to the team ever.
