Well that's what I meant in my post if he could add more pace without giving up his swing he could be more deadly and be India's strike bowler.

Yeah, he shouldn't focus only upon pace. But if he can increase the pace without loosing swing then it will great. As the time passes and he tries to increase it little bit regularly then he can do it in many a year or two. Just don't go for bowling at 135-140 kph in just one series, rather he should increase it gradually. Smooth transition from 128 kph to maybe 135 kph in 2 years and he will become a very good bowler. His action and run-up won't allow him to bowl at 140 kph and tweaking action may prove dangerous for his ability to swing. But he can bowl around in mid 130s with action regularly if he works on this aspect.

This statement reminded me of azharuddin who said he had no idea abt his wrist play untill some coach mentioned it to him. its raw talent man. i like this guy.

Unique cricketing talent (When was the last time we have seen such an authentic, unadulterated swing bowler like this in world cricket?), but beyond everything, what a special dude as well! :hatsoff: He was interviewed by one of the ESPN Star Hosts after End of play and one of the questions was ‘All the commentators were singing praises of your bowling, especially your near-perfect seam position. Is this something you have worked hard on?’.. PK seemed almost embarrassed by that and replied with a typical ‘I have no idea what whatchu talking about mate… I just go out there and bowl..’ Didn’t really get a chance to see his bowling today, but 41 overs in total! That’s a ridiculous amount of overs for even a spinner, let alone a fast bowler. The fact that he bowled so many overs, yet went at only 2.5 RPO and picked 5 wickets is a testament to his fitness and talent.
saneindian Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 This guy is a complete workhorse. Will keep running in and bowl steady overs day in and day out. On flat wickets, he may get tonked at times, but there will no let up in the effort from his side. As for the debate on his pace, has been close to the 80 mph mark here compared to 75-76 mph he was in WI. As he plays more and gets more confident, expect that average speed to get closer to 82-83 mph and that combined with his skills will make him even more deadlier

It was his control which he lost and pace as well. These are more technical things. He lost his action. This happens to every Indian fast bowler. Too much coaching and chopping and changing in action lead to this. This should be stopped. Let the fast bowler be what they are. Look at Makhaya Ntini, the kind of action he had, he never changed it and bowled with his limitations and still was successful.

He won a game also against us in p'ship with Bopara on last tour. Players like him, Mitch Johnson are hard to get out. PK has been exceptional. We can call this a "brilliant" start to a test carrier.
